00:00I'm Conway Gittins reporting from the New York Stock Exchange.
00:02Here's what we're watching on the street today.
00:04Modest losses across Wall Street as the Federal Reserve confirmed Wednesday
00:08that it is in pause mode, at least for now.
00:11At the Fed's first meeting of the year,
00:13policymakers decided to hold rates steady in the range of 4.25 to 4.5 percent.
00:18In its after-meeting press conference,
00:20Chairman Powell said the economy is in a good place,
00:23policy is in a good place, and quote,
00:25We do not need to be in a hurry to adjust our policy stance.
00:30Up next on Wall Street's agenda,
00:32the first look at fourth quarter GDP and quarterly results from Apple,
00:36Amazon, UPS, MasterCard, and Visa.
00:41In other business headlines,
00:43so many of us can't decide whether we like our food more on the spicy side or on the sweet side.
00:48And now we can have it both ways.
00:51That sweet and spicy desire for seasoning our food
00:54has given way to flavoring nicknamed swicy.
00:59And according to McCormick, swicy is the hot food trend for 2025.
01:04Along with the new buzzword comes the next hot ingredient to sprinkle on our foods.
01:09Aji amarillo is the McCormick 2025 flavor of the year.
01:13The seasoning, which literally translates to yellow chili pepper,
01:17quote, is a sweet, spicy blend with medium heat and tropical notes,
01:22oak smoke, garlic, and onion.
01:25The sweet taste has a fruity flavor similar to mango or passion fruit.
01:29While aji amarillo is already a staple in Peruvian cuisine,
01:34by crowning it the top spice of the year,
01:36McCormick is putting the spice on an even bigger international stage.
01:40You can sprinkle the seasoning all over meat, fish, stews, sauces,
01:44and it's even used to flavor drinks.
01:46A 2.1 ounce bottle will set you back by about 10 bucks.
01:50McCormick hopes it has a hit on its hands
01:52and will start selling the swicy spice in February.
01:57That'll do it for your daily briefing from the New York Stock Exchange.
