00:00I can't wait to get everybody's thoughts on this 713-572-4610.
00:05Those of you on YouTube and Twitch, jump in here.
00:08There are reports out here.
00:11As we know, Bobby Slowick, Clint, they parted ways with him.
00:14They're in search for a new offensive coordinator.
00:18And now reports are starting to spill out, Clint, about the relationship with Bobby Slowick
00:25and CJ Stroup.
00:26Like, I can understand, like, hey man, you're Bobby Slowick.
00:31Two years you've been on the job, one year really, really good.
00:34The next year, not as good, still made it to the playoffs.
00:39One thing that could quickly get you on the outs is if you have a mix-up or there's an
00:46issue with the most important person in the organization.
00:52Right now, 1A, 1B, it's CJ Stroup.
00:57Him and D'Amico, the two most important people in the organization.
01:01And now we're getting reports indicating that there were some issues there.
01:04This is a report coming, Texans Offensive Coordinator Bobby Slowick and CJ Stroup, according
01:09to reports, had a heated argument during the pre-draft process, Clint, creating tensions
01:16that contributed to Slowick's firing this offseason.
01:20So, Texans quarterback and former Texans Offensive Coordinator Bobby Slowick reportedly
01:25got into an altercation that showed that these two reportedly had to be separated during
01:30Stroup's pre-draft visit in Houston.
01:33Oh my God!
01:35Per ESPN 97.5, Stroup apparently told other teams his meeting with the Texans was, quote,
01:44terrible.
01:45Oh no!
01:46Well, wow.
01:49Well, wow.
01:50Wow!
01:51Your thoughts, everybody, 713-572-416, YouTube and Twitch.
01:57Your thoughts on that, Clint.
01:59Your thoughts on hearing this, and again, these are reports, this is alleged, there
02:05is nothing that, you know, obviously that CJ or Bobby have confirmed, but your thoughts
02:12when you hear that.
02:14Yeah, look, it makes things make more sense for me, and I'm talking, it starts with football
02:20stuff.
02:21Like, it's, when you see a team that week eight and nine are still talking about how
02:29fluid the situation is of discovering your identity, there's probably some level of a
02:36tug of war in the building.
02:40When you have a quarterback and a play caller that just refuse to protect yourself, the
02:48quarterback, and refuse to respond to all the pressures that the quarterback's getting
02:55by changing your style and doing something different, that screams there's a tug of war
03:01in the building.
03:02When you see Dalton Schultz in week four or five, whenever they played the Minnesota Vikings,
03:08clearly him and Cade Stover clearly have zero business blocking true edge players in
03:16the NFL.
03:17When you see that same issue pop up in a playoff game, not once, but multiple times in the
03:23most important drive of the season, clearly there's some level of a tug of war in the
03:28building going on.
03:32And so to me, that makes a lot of the football stuff that I watched this year, that's so
03:37frustrating, that makes a lot of that make sense.
03:41The fact that the quarterback went out there and a lot of the times is just completely
03:46disregarding the fact that his offensive line is struggling and is looking at mid-range
03:53to deep range concepts constantly and holding the football, that screams that guys aren't
04:00on the same page.
04:01No question about it.
04:04We talked about it multiple times.
04:06They got a lot of dudes over there, a lot of consultants, Bill Lazor, I don't know what
04:11his position is.
04:12I forget what his title is.
04:13I would say a consultant that's called plays in the league, been an OC in the league, obviously
04:18Gerard Johnson, who's been a quarterback in the league and played a lot of football, knows
04:21the game well.
04:23There's a lot of people in that building over there.
04:25It is mind boggling how bad they were in protection.
04:29And I'm not even talking about the mechanics and techniques of protecting.
04:31I'm talking about just the ability to go to the line of scrimmage and get a hat on
04:35a hat.
04:36You know, the ability to go to the line of scrimmage and say, Hey CJ, all these guys
04:41that are roaming right over to your left, we got them.
04:43You check the guy to the right.
04:45If he doesn't come, we got you.
04:46We got you protected.
04:47Like the very basic protection stuff was blown consistently this year and was made very,
04:53very, very, very difficult.
04:56That to me, screams that there's some level of tug of war in the building and, and that,
05:03that makes a lot of that football stuff that I watched all year long.
05:08That would make a lot of it make sense for me, Ron Tyler, and I see some, I see a lot
05:13of people coming in.
05:14That's BS.
05:15Um, why are we just now hearing this?
05:19If it was a bigger issue, Bobby would have been out of here, uh, someone, or, I mean,
05:24I guess it makes sense to why CJ thought the Texans didn't like him on draft day.
05:30I'm shocked, but where there's smoke, there's fire from Clarence Smith on YouTube and Twitch.
05:37Like I, like Todd, I hear everything Clint is saying, and I, and I think regardless of
05:44this report, I could, I mean, it looked like there was some, it looked like by what we
05:50saw, but, but, but this don't sound nothing like Bobby slowly.
05:57Like we in the reports, it's, it's right.
05:59He cussed him smooth out, stood up in the meeting, cussed him, cussed him, not, not
06:04when he was a member of the Texans prior, hell, Bobby just got this job.
06:09He was a candidate.
06:10Bobby just, Bobby just got the job.
06:12Had never called a play coming from Kyle Shanahan and, and, and that crew.
06:19And he stood up and told, no, shut the F up.
06:23This is what we do in the NFL.
06:26This ain't Ohio state no more.
06:28Like I, everything you're saying, hell, we didn't need this to come out to see that there
06:33was something, somebody was off of things.
06:36We saw a complete shift from last year and never got, I get that.
06:40There is no, I'm sorry.
06:42There is no possible way in hell that that would have happened.
06:48And we're just now finding out about it after his firing that just too many people knew
06:53about it.
06:54Too many people reported saying that he went to the next teams.
06:59It told them it went terrible and we wouldn't have heard that.
07:04We wouldn't have heard.
07:06And I will say this also, if Bobby Sloic had the balls, the nuts to do that, to do that
07:15on his first day on the drive job, he'd been there five minutes.
07:18He had the nerve to do that to the potential franchise that they hadn't even drafted yet.
07:26I think we would have seen doing stuff like that in the last two years.
07:31Have you ever seen Bobby Sloic look like he was going to flinch to cut somebody out?
07:36Yeah.
07:37I'm, I'm following everything you're putting down right now.
07:39It's hard for me to listen.
07:41I'm not saying that the relationship wasn't as peachy keen as maybe they made it seem.
07:47I just like, this just don't even say, man, first thing D'Amico go do is bring somebody
07:53in here to cuss out the potential franchise quarterback before we even get his ass.
07:57We don't like that.
07:58Right?
07:59Like I don't, I, yeah, I don't, I don't, I, I just, I'm sorry, clean you.
08:03Maybe you, you've been around the league knowing how, how things are held.
08:07I just don't know how that one would be held down that we would not.
08:11We have never, especially once he eventually he got drafted to the Texans that we would
08:17have never heard that.
08:18Or especially when things started to go up and down this year, we wouldn't have heard
08:25any of this.
08:26We just now hearing it gets fired.
08:30It's hard for me to hard for me to believe.
08:32Doesn't mean it didn't happen.
08:33Doesn't mean it's not true.
08:34We don't know.
08:35But it is, it is very damn hard to believe or to even imagine Bobby Slowick acting in
08:44that sort of manner, that, that big of a personality that that's kind of hard for me to wrap my
08:49mind around.
08:50Given just given all the, all the access we had to Bobby Slowick, whether it be pressers,
08:54post game, pregame, otherwise, that's, that's tough for me to like this for me, Clint, but
09:00Hey man, we've got a report out here that Sean Payton just undressed Clint Sterner in
09:06front of everybody.
09:07The way he did run, just go and go on about his business about it.
09:11Like, you know what I mean?
09:12Like, like, like everything that I have seen and we have seen of Clint Sterner, does it,
09:18does it make you feel that he would just let, as Bruce Coslett found out, he would just
09:21let, he would just let a coach just undressing just, just like, it don't even like we would,
09:28we would see, we would see that.
09:29And I just, that one is, that one is, I, I think clearly there was issues and I would
09:35even go out on a limb to say, clearly the relationship maybe got to a space where they
09:40felt like Bobby doesn't work here.
09:43Bobby on his, one of his first things at the combine, went out there and told TJ to shut
09:52the F up.
09:53That's not how we do it in the NFL.
09:55This ain't Ohio state.
09:59It's just not a golf club.
10:00I believe that, that, that Bobby's gotten his bag.
10:03Yeah.
10:04Look, I don't know Bobby.
10:07I don't know.
10:08I've not been around Bobby enough to know him or not, but I, that, that, that part of
10:11the story may, may very well be embellished and, and it may be lesser than, I don't think
10:17it's out of the norm for a coach in that setting to be like, man, we don't give a damn what
10:20y'all did at Ohio state, man.
10:22This is what we're, this is what we're talking about.
10:23You run into that.
10:24Oh yeah.
10:25No, I've not personally, I didn't go to the combine.
10:26I've not personally, you know, I've not personally experienced, you know, the, the, the communications
10:34with a coach where, where I refer to what we did at Arkansas.
10:37Like I just, I just never, I just, I don't know.
10:39Now I've heard coaches in communication in a way of like, man, nobody give a damn what
10:44you got away with in college or what you did in college.
10:46It's the NFL.
10:47You can talk to that.
10:50And so that part of the story may, may be, may be embellished.
10:52Um, hell it may not be true.
10:54I don't know, but, but it's, um, to me that makes a lot more sense and it makes it easier
11:02for me to connect dots with what I watched this year from a football, from a product
11:06standpoint than just Bobby, Bobby ain't got it.
11:10Bobby don't know what he's doing.
11:12Right.
11:13I like the, the, the point that you made off of it of there was clearly some tug of war
11:18of something, right?
11:19Like, I mean, you just like, it was just like to hell with whatever happened the previous
11:24year.
11:25We just like, we're not, we're not doing that.
11:27And, and I, and the closest that I ever saw Bobby seemed ticked off.
11:31I sent the video to you was all the way in the playoff game against the chargers when
11:35he tried to throw that pick to, to, um, Darwin James and he got over to the bench and he
11:41looked like it was more than a, than a, Hey, like, Hey man, we'll get them next, next time.
11:47And that, and that clip you're referring to the, you sent to Clint and I about when
11:51Bobby got mad on the sideline with that throw, at least from everything I read and saw body
11:56language otherwise on that video of Bobby Slowick, it would not have sniffed what this
12:01report says that he did behind closed doors.
12:04And look, I mean, he looked mad, but he didn't look like he was about to knock somebody's
12:07head off.
12:08And let me tell you something, if, if, if CJ Stroud was undressed the way that this,
12:14this thing says that he was like, yeah, maybe CJ ain't going to come out and just let y'all
12:20all know, let us all know about it.
12:22But damn it.
12:23There ain't no way in hell.
12:24Somebody going to ever undress me like that.
12:26And then I come back and at any point, just talk about how great he is.
12:32And we heard CJ many, many times really give praise to, to, uh, to Bobby Slowick, not,
12:40not upon my first meeting.
12:41Now I may have to work with you, not upon our, our first, our first introduction is
12:46a cuss out because I said, Hey, this is a play that we used to run in Ohio state.
12:50And it's called this.
12:51And you didn't just lost your mind.
12:54Bobby's hair too good for him to go off.
12:58That long ass hat, that brim hat.
13:02Freaking smalls hat.
13:04Smalls from the sand.
13:05I just sit there thinking like, all right, man, D'Amico and Bobby, they in this office
13:08together and this, and then, and my boy Bobby just goes rogue, man.
13:12It just goes off like this.
13:15I can't imagine it.
13:16And D'Amico is like, yeah, man.
13:17So what?
13:18Hey, you heard him.
13:19That's not what we going to do.
13:23It would be a very interesting approach to, uh, to, uh, especially when you've got a top
13:27two, top two pick and, and, uh, what ended up being two of the top three picks in that
13:32draft.
13:33And you know, you're taking a quarterback.
13:34That would be a very interesting approach to, uh, to, to interviewing that guy.
13:39No, no.
13:40Look, as, as Tyler said, I ain't saying it didn't happen.
13:45I'm just not believing it until somebody gives me some damn proof that it happened.
13:49That, that, that happened.
13:51Because if that happened, then I take back everything I just said about Eric B enemy
13:55in the last segment.
13:57Because if that happened and Eric B enemy is more down their road, then maybe I would
14:01have fought.
14:02And I just, I just don't think, yeah, look, Lance Zirline is, is a NFL comp and has been
14:11doing it for a long time.
14:12He's really, he's really good at his job.
14:14So I don't, um, you know, there's, there's parts of the story that whether they've been
14:21embellished or not, I don't think they came out of thin air.
14:24Like there, I think there's pretty credible reports that CJ Stroud didn't, didn't get
14:29along with, or didn't communicate with the offensive coordinator at, at Ohio state.
14:33He went directly to Ryan day and that's how he got his, his work done there.
14:38That's, that's interesting.
14:39That's odd.
14:40That's, that's, uh, that seems a little bit out of, out of the ordinary and definitely
14:45not all hands on deck.
14:47Let's go get this win kind of deal.
14:49Um, and then obviously the, the draft meeting with Bobby, uh, that went South, um, and,
14:57and then this year's to, to me, Ron, the, the, the resistance, and I said it all year
15:03long, like the, the resistance to change with this group, when you got all of those minds
15:10in the same building blows my mind, like blew my mind all year long.
15:15Like what in the world is going on here?
15:19No, no, that part.
15:21Yeah.
15:22That, that part.
15:23Hell yeah.
15:24I mean, we, we clearly see that the Texas felt something had to be done because they,
15:30they went ahead and moved on from it.
15:32They made a move and broke and broke that up to, to, and moving on from it.
15:36And now like with knowing that like a Gerard Johnson hire from inside the building to me
15:42is more likely could be, could be, yeah, listen, I'm not, this ain't me coming at Lance.
15:49I'm sure it's trusted reports.
15:51It just, are you telling me it just don't, that just don't make no sense like that.
15:56And I just ain't ever seen anything like that ever.
16:00Your first day, you're like one of your first things on the job that ain't seen that one.
16:03All right.
