00:00As we are into it with snowboard men here at the Freeride World Tour, the Val Thorens Pro, Remy Benhamot.
00:07Remy coming out of Zinal in Switzerland, a tiny little village in the mountains, and he is just born and bred for snowboarding.
00:14He absolutely loves it. Always a smile on his face as he pushes out of start 2 to start his campaign.
00:20Here he comes into this first section, lining up his board. Oh! Huge 360.
00:27Whoa! Backside 3 for Remy Benhamot as he makes his way across the avalanche debris clean.
00:31That's always a bit of a hold your breath moment as there's some big cornice chunks from the control work done this morning.
00:38So a hot, hot start for the Swiss rider.
00:42Lining up this section, he's a quiet guy, but his riding style is loud and speaks for himself.
00:50Able to make that transition perfectly, he knew how to adjust that speed.
00:54I love that backflip from Remy there, not adjusting his board angle, just going directly over the back axis.
01:01And Remy Benhamot with two huge tricks already, coming right into the nose.
01:06Another back 3, holding onto that heel side edge, having to readjust it now, just pointed into the fall line.
01:13Remy Benhamot with a statement here on the Lac Noir face.
01:17He is flying down.
01:21Oh, a big powder cloud there for the Zinal rider.
01:25The Swiss flag's on his shoulder, he doesn't want to let the French neighbours have all the fun here.
01:32Strong, aggressive riding out of the Swiss man.
01:37He said his goal, his childhood dream was just to qualify for the Tour,
01:41and I think he should adjust that a bit to maybe podium in winning the Tour.
01:46He's such a good rider.
01:48That was a huge run from Remy, locking himself into the top 5 in his debut on the Freeride World Tour in Spain,
01:57and now making a huge statement that he wants to be higher.
02:01Look at this, right out of the gate, back 3, this landing, perfect, Hadley.
02:06Not a control issue in that beginning part, and then this massive backflip where other people had issue with the bomb hole.
02:14He was able to land earlier, ride through that transition, make the turn, and continue down enjoying the beautiful snow we have in Val Thorens.
02:24You could see the relief in his body posture.
02:28Oh yeah, the judges have their work cut out for them now.
02:31The criteria, line, technique, control, fluidity, and air and style.
02:37Remy ticking every one of those boxes.
02:45Sounds like a few Swissies coming across the border into France to cheer on.
02:59Alright, well here we go, the score coming in, 90.67 is the score to beat.
03:04Not quite enough, but very close.
03:06Remy Benamou into 2nd with an 85.67.
