Porthcawl is a summertime favourite for so many people all across Wales. It’s a classic day out at the beach, and the local council has just revealed plans to revamp the whole beachfront area with over a thousand new houses, shops, cafes, skatepark and mini golf course.

00:00Everyone has had a day out in Porthcawl. It's a classic Welsh beach resort with all the usual sights and sounds, but in truth some parts have seemed a little dated for some time now.
00:12Coney Beach Pleasure Park for example, the site with rides, seems to not have had a facelift in years, but that could all soon be changing as the local council have said that if plans are passed, then the whole area will be getting a massive revamp.
00:26The council have wanted to improve the beachside area for some time and now plans have officially been released which would bring 1,100 new homes to the site, plus a number of welcome attractions like shops, cafes, restaurants and leisure activities including a skate park and mini golf course, and additional parking for visitors.
00:45The local council hope to be able to host more annual events to the area on top of the world famous Elvis festival and say that new plans will be open for a public consultation and encourage locals to have their say over the future of the area.
