A Holocaust survivor who met Elon Musk on his tour of the Auschwitz death camp says the visit was a "performance" by the "uninterested" tech billionaire.
Musk visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau site exactly a year ago after intense criticism of how X tackles antisemitic posts and Mr Musk endorsed an antisemitic conspiracy theory.
He was hosted by a group including Gidon Lev, 89, who was at the SS-run Theresienstadt ghetto in the Czech Republic, and lost 26 family members during the Holocaust.
Gidon, has been prompted to speak out on the anniversary of the visit, after Musk's controversial hand gesture - which some said looked like a Nazi salute.
He described the outing on January 17, 2024, as a “performance” put on by Musk’s handlers.
