Pembentukan Holding UMKM diharapkan dapat menciptakan rantai pasok dan ekosistem yang kuat antara sektor UMKM dengan industri besar.
Menteri UMKM Maman Abdurrahman mengatakan, salah satu sektor UMKM yang berhasil masuk dalam rantai pasok industri besar adalah otomotif. Dimana dalam proses produksi mobil, pasokan kursi dan komponen lain telah memberdayakan perusahaan UMKM. Oleh sebab itu, Kementerian UMKM ingin mereplikasi keberhasilan tersebut pada sektor UMKM lainnya, seperti pertanian, makanan dan minuman, serta merchandise untuk masuk ke rantai pasok industri yang lebih besar.
Maman menambahkan, sektor UMKM memiliki kesempatan dan berkembang lebih jauh melalui pembentukan Holding UMKM. Kementerian UMKM pun akan memberikan dukungan melalui pelatihan produksi, akses pembiayaan, perencanaan bisnis hingga penyiapan rantai pasok, serta investor. Sehingga, ekosistem Holding UMKM menjadi sebuah kesatuan yang tidak lagi terpecah atau terpisah satu sama lain.
