00:00Winter. It can mean cosy nights in front of the TV, warm Sunday dinners and long walks in the snow.
00:06But, as nice as that sounds, it can also bring bad weather.
00:10We're talking snow, strong winds, heavy rains, which can all cause disruptions to so many areas of our life,
00:16including electricity supply.
00:18Whilst SP Energy Network storm shielders work around the clock to keep the lights on
00:22and protect their customers from the worst of the storms, we can do our bit as well.
00:27First of all, keep a battery-powered or wind-up torch within easy reach
00:31so you don't have to walk around the house in the dark.
00:33Make sure you keep your mobile phone charged, so if the power does go out,
00:37you can call SP Energy Networks on 105.
00:40If you do see any damage to power cables though, call 999 immediately.
00:44Keep blankets nearby and make sure you're closing shutters, blinds and curtains to keep that extra heat in.
00:51And if you feel like you might need extra support during a power cut,
00:54find out if you're eligible for a SP Energy Networks Priority Services Register.
00:59For more information, visit SP Energy Networks' website.
01:02And remember, in a power cut, call 105.
01:05No matter who you pay your bills to, SP Energy Networks will be there to help.
