00:00Yesterday, the 58 Pesos Maximum SRP in Imported Rice became effective.

00:05It's a good thing that it's being followed by vendors.

00:16Now, the maximum suggested retail price in Premium Imported Rice is being fulfilled.

00:23It's still being followed by all rice retailers here in Tandang Sora.

00:27Markets have set the maximum suggested retail price in rice.

00:31Since Monday, the Department of Agriculture has implemented the 58 Pesos Maximum Retail Price in Rice.

00:38It means that the 58 Pesos should be the most expensive imported rice that is being sold in the markets.

00:44This MSRP is currently being implemented in the whole Metro Manila.

00:49However, the DA has promised that this will be implemented in the provinces.

00:54The government also said that they will not restrict the implementation of the maximum suggested retail price.

01:00But they will always monitor the price of rice in the whole NCR.

01:05They will make it clear that this is only a suggested retail price and not a price ceiling in rice.

01:11The government also assures that supermarkets are following the price of imported rice.

01:17Specialty rice such as Malagkit Rice, Japanese Rice, and Black Rice are not included in the policy.

01:24The MSRP also includes a nominal profit margin of Php 10 per kilo in the landed cost of imported rice.

01:36I noticed that there is no longer an imported rice price of more than Php 58.

01:44However, the DA also said that special variety rice such as Japanese Rice, Malagkit Rice, Black Rice, and even local rice are not included in the policy.

01:59Meanwhile, there are still affordable rice available in some families in Metro Manila.

02:06Such as Saguadalupe Market, Kamuling Public Market, Malabon Central Market, New Las Piñas City Public Market, and Pasay City Public Market.
