00:00In January 2024, a JetBlue flight took off from the Los Angeles airport, traveling to New York.
00:05However, as the Airbus A321 flew over Inglewood, California, a chunk of ice allegedly fell from
00:11the aircraft, crashing through the home of Michael Reese and Lea Farrarini. That is what their lawsuit
00:16alleges, saying that just after 8pm, a watermelon-sized chunk of ice fell through their
00:21roof and landed near their bed. The suit goes on to say that law enforcement arrived and a federal
00:26aviation administration investigation was conducted into the matter. The couple now say
00:30that every time a jet flies overhead, which happens every 5 minutes where they live,
00:34they brace themselves and suffer insomnia. Still shaken by the unfortunate incident,
00:40the lawsuit explains that the FAA investigation discovered a water issue on that very plane that
00:44dates back 6 months before the incident. That same plane is also alleged to have dropped ice
00:49on another home in Massachusetts in 2023. An investigation at that time found a water
00:54leak due to a misaligned valve flange. The plaintiffs have accused JetBlue of negligence
00:59and trespass to the tune of $1 million. JetBlue says it takes no liability and
01:05conducted itself pursuant to statutes, governmental regulations, and industry standards.
