Stefani's Pizzeria has added two new mouthwatering specials to it's Italian menu. The first one is a pizza sandwich with lots of tasty filling choices including Italian BLT and Hunters Chicken. The second special is something a little bit different which is a croissant sandwich. They also come with lots of different yummy sweet and savoury fillings. They have been a hit with local Blackpool foodies.

00:00So, Richard, could you start off by telling me your full name and your position at Stefani's?
00:13So I'm Nico Stefani, the owner of Stefani's Pizzeria. We're actually based in Blackpool,
00:19Cedar Square.
00:20Yeah, can you tell me how old you are?
00:2335 years young.
00:25Are you local to Blackpool?
00:28Yeah, so I grew up in Blackpool. I was born in the Vic. Moved to St. Anne's with my wife
00:33probably about 10, 15 years ago now. About 15 years ago, sorry. Got three kids. Go to
00:40local schools and stuff like that. Probably opened Stefani's seven years ago. We started
00:46off slow as every business does, but we built and built. Now we're multi-award winning.
00:50We've got the best family business. We've been runners up for the best pizzeria and
00:56the best pizzeria in the UK. And then this year we won at the Italian Awards, best small
01:00business. So really good for the awards.
01:05So have you recently gone to the pizza and croissant sandwiches? Can you tell me a little
01:11bit about those?
01:12So the pizza sandwich actually was something that me and the chefs would make during the
01:17shift a few years ago when we were hungry. Instead of like, because we eat pizza like
01:21twice a day, you want to make it different. And obviously sandwich is the all time favourite
01:26for a lunchtime snack. So we sort of started making all these pizza sandwiches. And like
01:32I said, like the dough's super fresh. It's all made to order. So it's like the freshest
01:36sandwich you can get. All our fillings for the sandwich are all freshly cooked or imported
01:41meats from Italy. So it's really good quality. And it just tastes so good. It tastes so fresh
01:47and nice. It's a bit different than your normal sandwich at Co-op or your normal sandwich
01:52from the shop or anything like that. It's a lot healthier for one, but they are fresh,
01:56do you know what I mean?
01:58So how popular have they been with the local sandwiches?
02:03So when we launched the sandwiches, our local customers, we told them about them. They loved
02:08them. And obviously they would normally order the pizza. Yeah. And we see them regularly
02:13every week coming, the sandwiches. Now for the last couple of months, what we've been
02:17doing is making a new couple of sandwiches every few months just to see what the people
02:22like, basically. So every couple of months we've changed them around. At Christmas we
02:27had like the roast turkey with bacon and cranberry sauce, sausage and stuff like that. It was
02:32really popular. Stuffing, gravy. But we are just trying to mix things up, sort of get
02:36some different tastes out there, see what people like. And then when we're going to
02:39launch like a proper lunch menu, hopefully getting a lot of the local workers who want
02:45something a bit sort of tastier, a bit healthier, maybe a bit quicker than your other sort of
02:51restaurants around and stuff like that.
02:53Do you know, do you have any idea when you're going to be launching that new lunch menu?
02:57So we're going to try and launch it this February. At the minute we've got specials on, so you
03:00can come in and order a sandwich or the croissant. The croissants have gone down really, really
03:06well. And they sort of inspired me from being on holiday in Italy because they sort of serve
03:11them for breakfast and brunch. And I always thought croissants were just like a sweet
03:16thing. You could put a piece of filling on the cheeses and salamis and stuff like that.
03:19So they're really different and really nice. Another quick thing you can grab. But I think
03:24by February we're going to have a solid menu for the lunch menu. And then also bring out
03:29specials every month as well with different sandwiches. But have your staple like sort
03:33of roast chicken, salad sandwiches, and you know, like your tomato and cheese and some
03:38vegetarian options.
03:39So you mentioned a couple of them there. What kind of, for the croissant and the pizza sandwiches,
03:45what kind of fillings can people get?
03:47So with the croissants at the minute, a really popular one has been the scrambled egg. So
03:50that's more of like a brunch. You get scrambled egg and bacon. The salami and cheese is like
03:55one of my family favourites. And we've brought this here now. At the minute we've got a BLT,
04:00but we try and put a little bit of an Italian twist with some parmesan and some garlic mayonnaise
04:05on it. So it's lovely, you know what I mean? We do like a Hunter's chicken, which is barbecue,
04:10cheese, chicken, obviously. That's really good. Really nice. It's nice for this kind
04:14of weather where you don't want something too cold. It's nice and warm. It's good. It's
04:18nice.
04:19Yeah. I think it kind of feels like a niche. So it's good for people who are like on the
04:27go.
04:28Yeah. So it's brilliant for people on the go because it's good for people on the go,
04:32but also not worried about what they eat or want something just a little bit more than
04:37a meal deal or a bit of a change from your fish and chips and your burgers. That's what
04:43offers a lot of. So it is good, really good for people on the go. We have a really good
04:46coffee machine, really nice coffee. You can come and grab a coffee and a sandwich. Do
04:49you know what I mean? A croissant and a sandwich is amazing. People have really loved it. The
04:53guys who have tried it, the people who have been here and have tried it, they love it.
04:56Do you know what I mean? It is really good, yeah.
04:58Can you tell me the prices for the two croissant toppers?
05:02So the croissant stock from £5 ranged up to £6, depending on the fillings. And the
05:06sandwiches, between I'd say about £6 and £8. You get a little handful of crisps with
05:11it as well, so it's not just a sandwich. But the quality speaks for itself with the
05:15sandwiches. They're fresh, like I've said. The ingredients are amazing, do you know what
05:19I mean? They're really good.
