00:00The Department of Migrant Workers is studying to implement a deployment ban in Kuwait

00:06following the death of two OFWs.

00:09This is the story of Floyd Brentz.

00:14After the death of our two OFWs from Kuwait,

00:19the Department of Migrant Workers or DMW is now studying

00:24the possible deployment ban of OFWs in Kuwait

00:27following the assassination of two Filipino migrant workers, Daphne Nakalaban and Jenny Alvarado.

00:33According to DMW Secretary Hans Leo Kakdak,

00:37the government imposed this ban to ensure the safety of OFWs in Kuwait.

00:44Following the discovery of Nakalaban's body in the backyard of his employer in December 2024

00:50and the death of Alvarado on January 2,

00:54DMW is monitoring the investigation and is consulting with the Kuwait authorities.

01:01Meanwhile,

01:02as DMW Secretary Kakdak announced to our countrymen who still want to go to Kuwait,

01:09We have a standing bilateral labor agreement with them,

01:15with the Kuwaiti side.

01:16We just had a meeting last June,

01:22and now is the time to meet with our Kuwaiti counterparts.

01:26And of course,

01:27the passing of the ban,

01:29whether,

01:30I think the biggest possibility here is that we will further tighten the requirements

01:35to ensure that those who should go to Kuwait will be able to leave

01:42and that there is a high level of skills and understanding abroad.

01:50And also on the Kuwaiti side,

01:53our screening of those who will become employers.

01:58As of now,

01:59there are 215,000 Filipino domestic workers in the country so far.

02:05The official also announced that they will continue to provide support to the families of the victims.

02:12As part of the legal and financial assistance,

02:14the authorities are doing their best to protect the OFWs in front of them.
