00:00In Venezuela, the Special Commission for the Provision of the Electoral Laws and Regulations
00:05of the National Assembly and the National Electoral Council evaluate the proposals of
00:09the political parties and organizations for the electoral schedule 2025.
00:14The meeting evaluates the proposals to define the dates, processes and scenarios for the
00:20elections to be held in 2025.
00:23According to the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, for this year there
00:27will be around 10 joint elections, including mayors, governors, legislative and municipal
00:32councils, as well as parliamentary elections and constitutional reform.
00:37He also points out that the electoral processes will be governed based on what the Venezuelan
00:42Constitution emanates, the National Electoral Council, and not what any other national or
00:49international entity might indicate.
00:51According to this Constitution, the only body that has the power to organize, summon, count
01:05the votes, proclaim elected candidates, and give them the credential as elected officials,
01:10is the electoral power, the National Electoral Council, its five principal members and ten
01:15alternates, as well as its three subordinate bodies.
01:19There is no other national entity, much less an extraterritorial one, that has the power
01:24to make decisions in electoral matters.
01:27That is why we have come here with proposals from the political parties.
