00:00I've had I've had times when I was six months past my contract in my career.
00:04I've had been in the last year a bunch of times, so it can't affect it.
00:07I mean, I just say the same thing over and over, which is, you know,
00:11I'm employed by the Ricketts to to, you know, sign players
00:14and build a team as best I can.
00:16Sometimes that's thinking about the future entirely.
00:19We've we've done at times.
00:20Sometimes that's blending them.
00:22Sometimes that's really saying, OK, now is the right time.
00:25And really, that's what is going to determine that the actions we make
00:28is like, what is the right thing for this team, this organization?
00:31I mean, listen, I you know, I've been doing this a long time.
00:35I've been here 14 years now.
00:38You know, for me, I'm such a small part of the Cubs and the Cubs ecosystem.
00:44And like, it's all about the fans and the players.
00:45And so that's my job is to do the best job I can for this entity.
00:50And I don't think about my own stuff.
00:53But at the same time, I think, you know, we're in a really competitive window.
00:56I think we have a chance to be really good. OK, good.
00:58Because I was wondering on how urgency would match kind of where you guys are at.
01:03How do you feel about what the last four years have built up to this point?
01:08And do you look at it maybe more favorably than I do?
01:12Or fans would when they see seasons where you guys have come close,
01:17but have fallen short.
01:19How do you view that and and try to make positive change
01:24for the roster and for the team inside of the philosophy
01:28of what it is that what you guys want to do?
01:30Well, I think that when, you know,
01:32even like going back to, you know, taking the job and I was I was here before.
01:35But like, you know, when Theo stepped away,
01:37you know, I was aware of the hard decisions we were going to make at the end of COVID.
01:41I was aware that, you know, this this group of players
01:44that led us to a ton of success before I was aware that
01:48we're going to have to trade those guys and that we were going to have to
01:51kind of start things over.
01:52And so for me, I look at it and I think the organization's in great position,
01:56whether it's me or not me.
01:58I look at it like, you know, we have a really good farm system.
02:00We have a ton of talent on the team.
02:02We've got really clean books financially.
02:04I think we're really we're well positioned.
02:07That was not going to happen overnight.
02:09You know, I actually, you know, 20.
