00:00Here with Jack Harvey in Shrewsbury, how you doing Jack?
00:02I'm good thanks.
00:03Quite a new father, you getting your sleep?
00:06It's not too bad to be fair, it's not too bad.
00:10But you're trying to organise being a young dad around training for a marathon, what you got coming up?
00:16Yeah, so I'm doing the London Marathon in April this year and I'm raising money for Prostate Cancer UK.
00:24Why Prostate Cancer? Why that charity?
00:27So I've done a bit before for them, just before and just after my Grandad's death.
00:32He suffered with it for about the last 4 or 5 years of his life, eventually passing away at the grand age of 97.
00:39Yeah, and it was Grandad Charles wasn't it, some people know him as Geoffrey?
00:44That's it yeah, so always been in Shrewsbury so some people may know him as Geoffrey.
00:51Yeah, what was his last name?
00:53Harvey.
00:54Harvey of course, yeah.
00:55So have you always been into your running or is this throughout your life since your teens or where's it come from?
01:01It's been on and off, I took part in the last 2 Shrewsbury Half Marathons.
01:09One year I did raise some money for 7 Hospice as well, because they provided some end of life care for both my Grandparents.
01:18And to be fair, I've had to give it a bit of a knock last year, I suffered a broken foot a couple of years ago,
01:27which has had on and off issues and a prolapsed disc in my back.
01:30Wow, so they weren't from running were they?
01:34No, so the foot was football and then the prolapsed disc was from limping on one side during the recovery of the foot.
01:44No way, so one thing led to the other, so how are you getting on with the recovery of both of those now then?
01:49So pretty good, the prolapsed disc has gone down, I'm on a waiting list for surgery on my foot.
01:55The pain is non-existent, but there is going to be some damage later down the line if I don't get it sorted basically.
02:03Yeah, so that will have impacted your running and your training then, so are you marathon ready at the minute or is it still a process?
02:10It's very much a working process still. I've got a plan I'm sticking to, I'm about 5 weeks in and I think we've got 15 weeks left to go.
02:22Cool, and what we've put in a call out, you're after sponsorship?
02:26Yes, 100%.
02:28So what is it you're looking for from people or companies I guess?
02:32Anything really, if businesses feel they can support by either helping me host the raffle, auction, pubs, doing fun days or just sponsorship,
02:45I'm happy to go, take photos, anywhere, any businesses. My target is £2,000, I'm currently just over the £100 mark.
02:55I'm hoping that a lot more will come in a bit closer to the time, but I don't want to have to worry about the sponsorship just before the run.
03:02Hopefully I can get that sorted before I concentrate.
03:05And if people want to find out a bit more about you or get involved in helping with that sponsorship, where can they find you Jack?
03:11Are you online, have you got a Facebook profile?
03:16Yes, I've got a Facebook profile, Instagram profile, search my name and you should see my JustGiving page at the top of my bio.
03:25But if not, just feel free to reach out over Facebook, over any social media platform and I'll share my page.
03:32Cool, and it's Jack Harvey?
03:34That's correct, yeah.
03:36Nice one, well good luck with the run buddy and a nice way to pay tribute to your dear grandad there. Cheers buddy.
03:40Brilliant, thank you.
