00:00Hi, my name's Billy Haggerty. I was recently diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer.
00:09After getting over the initial shock of the results, I decided I'd try and do something positive,
00:16try and raise awareness to the advantages of early testing,
00:22because that's how I found out through an Army friend who had been diagnosed and advised me.
00:28I had no symptoms, nothing at all, and I just thought I was going to go for a check-up, but unfortunately it was positive.
00:35So with that news, after informing family and friends, I decided I'd like to try something positive,
00:44to do something and try and raise awareness to testing.
00:49So I've put myself forward for the Kilimanjaro Challenge,
00:53which is walking up over seven days up to the summit in Kilimanjaro.
00:58In the process, I'm trying to raise £3,650 towards Macmillan Cancer Care,
01:04who have been quite a steady rock for me, giving me quite a lot of information.
01:10I recently made a Just Giving page, which, after a week, I was really amazed at all the kind words
01:19and the generous, really generous donations.
01:22I'm really thankful for everybody who's done it, and if you could see it in yourself,
01:26to possibly have a look at my page and donate whatever you can.
01:31I think it's a worthwhile cause.
01:33I just hope I can get to the top without any repercussions and do Wigan proud.
