00:09From our neighbor in Singapore, 10 endemic birds that can only be seen in the Philippines

00:15were recently turned over to a foundation in Bacolod City.

00:19What are these birds and why did they come from Singapore?

00:26Anyone would have a crush on these birds.

00:29These are the Gallic Columba Cay or Negros Bleeding Heart Pigeon

00:33which are endemic or only found on Negros Island and can only be seen.

00:36Critical endangered or almost extinct.

00:40We've been looking into populations in the wild but we can't see them anymore.

00:46In Panay, we have a few individuals that are being tracked.

00:52So in the hope of saving a few Negros Bleeding Heart Pigeons,

00:57in 2021, three of its breeding pairs were entrusted with the Creative Breeding Program

01:02of the Singapore-based Mandai Wildlife Group.

01:05And just yesterday, MWG turned over 10 Negros Bleeding Heart Pigeons

01:10to the Talarak Foundation Negros Forest Park in Bacolod City.

01:13This conservation breeding program is very important

01:19because there are only a few of them in the wild.

01:22The concept of sending them to Singapore was very important

01:30because you want to put more eggs in different baskets.

01:35But do you know why this bird is called Negros Bleeding Heart Pigeon?

01:50because of its long red feather on its white beak
