00:00Thank you very much, and to the people of Borawen, let's call Angel S. Alba, Elvira Fidere, Ruth Serapin, and Borawen Mayor Juanito Renomeron.
00:30What happened to the previous projects of the previous administrations?
00:59Can you give us an update?
01:30How many years has it been? It's been 9 years.
01:34That is how long the government actually moves when it comes to our housing.
01:39There are a lot of problems.
01:42Problems with the contractor, problems with the acquisition of land, problems with the road right of way.
01:47Some are already done, but there's no water, no electricity. Why would I move there?
01:52We were placed in a faraway place.
01:55So, all of a sudden, when you actually have a housing area, it's not enough that you have one roof and four walls.
02:07There has to be a community.
02:10And perhaps that is one thing that is always left out.
02:14Is there a tricycle here? Is there water here?
02:18Are we going to live here?
02:19We were even able to reach the housing project of Habitat.
02:23There's no electricity.
02:25So, I already told my planning officer that for electricity, water, etc.
02:33If it's left out, it's a waste.
02:35If possible, let's also budget.
02:37So, we have a lot now because it's not just Yolanda.
02:40We have earthquakes and landslides.
02:43So, the areas that they will move, even if it's temporary, let's leave the electricity.
02:48Let's leave the water.
02:50But sometimes, there are temporary areas that will be moved.
02:53The electricity will be installed again, but it won't happen because it won't leave.
02:58It's just temporary.
03:06How many years have we been here?
03:08We're going on our 12th year.
03:1112 years of Yolanda.
03:13It takes 12 years to build a house.
03:16One typhoon will wipe out everything.
03:18So, I said, it's not just about building a house.
03:23We have to be resilient.
03:25Because if it takes a long time to build, it's just one typhoon.
03:28So, the history of this is that there are many problems with housing.
03:33And it's only now that they are able to have their own house.
03:49Out of 3,500 now, the award that Medkin ran is 1,800.
03:54I think the basic difference is that it is accessible.
03:59It has to be accessible.
04:00If you don't have electricity or water, they can see what you're doing.
04:06It's already there.
04:08And most of all, they won't be able to choose where to go.
04:13Because if you have a house, you don't have a place to live.
04:16Others will choose to live even if they don't have a house.
04:19And that's the problem of the urban people.
04:22It's not a problem in the rural area.
04:25That's the basic problem in the urban area.
04:30Medkin is proud to be a part of your story.
04:33We are proud to be a part of your story.
