00:00India's Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is recovering in hospital after being stabbed six times

00:05following an attack by an intruder at his home. The 54-year-old actor underwent surgery for the

00:10wounds he received during the intrusion at his Mumbai apartment. Khan is among the country's

00:15most popular stars having featured in more than 70 films and television series and also in some

00:20as a producer. He lives in the western suburb of Bandra along with his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan

00:26who is also an actor and their two children. Khan was taken to a nearby hospital at around

00:303.30 a.m on Thursday with six injuries, two deep wounds and one close to his spine.

00:36He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger. Mumbai police said they

00:43believed a staff member had let the intruder into the home and helped them circumvent the

00:48security and CCTV systems for the purpose of theft. Police have confirmed they're investigating

00:53the incident and searching for the assailant who fled the scene after the attack.
