00:00My fellow Americans, I'm speaking to you tonight from the Oval Office.
00:06Before I begin, let me speak to important news from earlier today.
00:10After eight months of non-stop negotiation by my administration, a ceasefire and a hostages
00:18deal has been reached by Israel and Hamas, the elements of which I laid out in great
00:24detail in May of this year.
00:27This plan was developed and negotiated by my team, and it will be largely implemented
00:33by the incoming administration.
00:35That's why I told my team to keep the incoming administration fully informed, because that's
00:40how it should be, working together as Americans.
00:45This will be my final address to you from the American people from the Oval Office,
00:49from this desk as President.
00:51I've been thinking a lot about who we are, and maybe more importantly, who we should
00:56be.
00:57Long ago, in New York Harbor, an iron worker installed beam after beam, day after day.
01:05He was joined by steel workers, stonemasons, engineers.
01:10They built not just a single structure, but a beacon of freedom.
01:15The very idea of America was so big, we felt the entire world needed to see.
01:21The Statue of Liberty, a gift from France after our Civil War.
01:27Like the very idea of America, it was built not by one person, but by many people from
01:31every background and from around the world.
01:35Like America, the Statue of Liberty is not standing still.
01:40Her foot literally steps forward atop a broken chain of human bondage.
01:46She's on the march, and she literally moves.
01:50She has built the sway back and forth to withstand the fury of stormy weather, to stand the test
01:56of time because storms are always coming.
02:00She sways a few inches, but she never falls into the current below.
