00:00Comelec is back to zero in printing balotas for the 2025 midterm elections.
00:07The Supreme Court's decision to put five aspirants in balotas was followed.
00:13The six million balotas that were printed worth Php150 million must be destroyed.
00:20Here is my report.
00:22Four months are not enough for the 2025 midterm elections in May.
00:29More than six million balotas were printed by Comelec, but those must be destroyed
00:35according to the temporary restraining order of the Supreme Court.
00:39The court also ordered to include the names of one senatorial aspirant and four running for local deposition.
00:47First, the nuisance candidate was declared, disqualified, the application was rejected or the Certificate of Candidacy was cancelled.
00:55Comelec also said that no balota has been printed for local positions.
01:00But the number of senatorial aspirants will change if the name of the senatorial aspirant is included in the balota.
01:08We immediately ordered to change the election management system.
01:12We will also change the number of balot phases in the country because the name of the candidate must be included.
01:22This is the part of the balotas worth six million that Comelec says they have printed, but they cannot use it.
01:32In the printing of Comelec, they spent Php150 million in printing these balotas.
01:41Comelec already wrote to the Commission on Audit to inform them of the destruction and invited them to witness it.
01:48Next week, it is possible to continue printing balotas.
01:52What if a candidate from the Supreme Court fell again?
01:57If we print balotas again and there's a new directive, this will not put pressure on the Supreme Court, with all due respect.
02:05We will do it again, especially if the position involved is a national position.
02:10We cannot wait because we do not know when the action of the Supreme Court will take place.
02:17Despite the delay in the printing of balotas, Comelec assured that the election will continue on May 12.
02:24In order to speed up the printing of balotas, it is possible to use four printers of the National Printing Office.
