00:00The government of the province of Oriental Mindoro

00:03has a priority to give a long-term solution to the floods in the province.

00:17with the low shear line and strong winds,

00:20the flood affected various towns in the province of Oriental Mindoro

00:23in the past few days.

00:25The floods are the result of the flooding of rivers in several towns

00:29that according to the PDRMO, some of which are already silted.

00:33This is in line with the request of PIA Oriental Mindoro

00:36to Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Ram Joseph Temenya.

00:41He said that the government of the province is taking the first steps

00:45to reduce the floods in the province,

00:48as well as deepening the rivers.

00:50This is with the help of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

00:54Yes, the PGOM plan for the river restoration and dredging of our rivers

01:42As of now, some places in Calapan City, Baco, and the town of Pola are flooded.

01:47More than 500 families are currently staying in the evacuation centers.

01:53The local government is already providing assistance to the refugees.

01:57Despite the trials, the government and the residents continue to rely

02:02on the help of long-term solutions and more robust preparations

02:06to strengthen their preparedness against calamities such as floods.
