Superman Lifting Mjolnir: The Hero Had His Own Version of Thor’s Famous Hammer

In the comic book universe, it's common to find similarities in powers, artifacts, and even the personalities of heroes from different publishers. Each one takes its own approach, as is the case with DC Comics, which had Superman lift a powerful object quite similar to Mjolnir, Thor’s famous hammer from Marvel Comics.

Known for being impossible to lift by anyone who is not "worthy" of it, Mjolnir is one of the most iconic artifacts in Thor's history, both in Marvel comics and the MCU, and has gained a lot of popularity among fans who enjoy theorizing which comic book characters could lift the hammer.

The competing publisher – better known as DC Comics – took advantage of this idea to give Superman his own version of Mjolnir. This story was told in All-Star Superman #2, and while it’s not exactly a hammer, the artifact shared some similar traits.

In the story, Superman creates a giant key to protect the Fortress of Solitude, his headquarters. As described in the comic, the key was so large that Superman used to say it was so heavy that it would take at least 100 men to lift it.

This quickly became a problem for the hero because, while lifting the key was difficult, it wasn’t completely impossible. So, he decided to transform the object into a smaller key that, although it appeared "harmless," was actually the opposite. This was because the key was made from the material of a white dwarf star, which weighed half a million tons.

In the comic, Superman even asks Lois Lane to try lifting the key, but she can’t due to its immense weight. Thanks to this change in strategy, Superman becomes the only living being on Earth capable of lifting the key, thus gaining access to his Fortress – something similar to how Thor is the only one capable of wielding Mjolnir.

If you follow me and comment "SUPERMAN," I'll reply with an interesting fact about the character.
