00:00Yeah, Tegan definitely can be proud of herself because she picked something which was right on her edge of capabilities and pulled it through.
00:06Next one is Amélie Martin, out of France, 16 years old, and...
00:14Hello to France, hello to all the dads, moms and coaches who are with us,
00:19who are watching the Freeride Tuning World Championships on the screens right now.
00:23And good luck to Amélie Martin!
00:26Out of La Clusaz, from the club Sports de La Clusaz, crazy good resort.
00:33Oh yeah, Seb Mijot, one of the greatest backflip riders of all times is there,
00:38trains the Freeride team, big up for Seb, and the crew there, you do a great job training all those kids.
00:44And you trained Amélie how to go fast, jeez!
00:47Yeah, great technique!
00:48Blasting out that upper part, yeah!
00:50Definitely the fastest runner of the Snowboard Women we've seen so far,
00:54she's making short work of that upper part of the winder.
00:57Strong legs and a lot of speed, just dodging those tracks.
01:00Looks like a skier plowing just right through them.
01:03She's also writing that she's doing a lot of physical training, kite surfing as well.
01:07Oh, that definitely paid off, you can tell it's in her terms.
01:09And jumping on airbags.
01:11Nice, also jumping right into the halfpipe now.
01:14Very interesting to see if she stays in the halfpipe or if she decides to move into the nor,
01:18just like Tegan before, and looks like she goes for a little gully.
01:24Fluid entrance, oh beautiful, that looks like Alaska!
01:28Floating over those rocks like it would be nothing, eh?
01:31Wow, spectacular run by Amélie Martin from La Clusaz.
01:35Now a little cartwheel unfortunately got stuck somewhere.
01:38Oh, what happened there, right in the middle of a turn?
01:39Yeah, finding that nice exit though.
01:45Exit air again with full speed.
01:48Wow, that was an almost perfect run except for that middle hiccup, but strong performance.
01:53Very strong performance by Amélie Martin.
01:56Super strong riding, like great, great speed.
01:59You can tell that she's a really, really good rider and well-trained as well.
02:03She also picked a very beautiful line, like linking a couple of different features.
02:08And what I really like about her, not only that she says that Maren Harty, multiple world champion,
02:12is one of her heroes, but also her dad.
02:13That makes me proud, his dad.
02:16If a daughter says that in the Freer Junior World Championships.
02:19Yeah, Marion Harty is a hero, it's a good choice.
02:22She comes in here full speed at the frontside turn, and then we didn't see the little hiccup there.
02:28But she showed some super confident riding with a lot of speed and strong legs.
02:33Looks like she had another hiccup there in the outrun, but this might have been after the judging.
02:37It's definitely after the judging, yeah.
02:39So, well, we saw some really, really good sections and some very technical action she showed.
02:49And really cool to see.
02:52Man, those turns, lady, amazing.
03:00Yeah, Amélie, we're cheering for you for sure.
03:07And yeah, she can be proud of herself, because also finding that line is not so super easy.
03:12Like, she really had to memorize quite a lot of different things.
03:16And I was really impressed by her power, the strength of her legs,
03:19like the speed she showed in those turns and how she defied the tracks
03:24and the difficult snow conditions in the upper part was really spectacular.
03:29And she's only 16 years old, so a lot more time to learn some more.
03:34And with that pace technique she already has, her coaches will be quite happy about her.
03:41Oh, I'm sure, yeah.
03:42There's no winning competitions anymore these days without spending a lot of time in the gym
03:46and training those muscles to have them when you need them.
03:50Yeah, also she is not a super experienced rider yet.
03:54She's only competed on eight events.
03:56So for that, and you also have to see the potential of progression,
04:01which is definitely there for Amélie to really get one of the big names of freeriding.
04:06Yeah, but I mean, last year she competed in seven events and won six out of those.
04:10Including three of the junior three stars.
04:13So she is really a very strong rider and we can't wait to get the score.
04:19She's also looking at the scoreboard.
04:22We see the smoke going up over the judge's head right next to us here.
04:25Yeah, but so she's only competing since last year
04:28and managed to actually navigate such a complex line in those conditions,
04:33which is really, really amazing.
04:34I'm stoked to see what's coming next with the snowboard ladies.
04:37So all you boys and girls out there, if you like freeride snowboarding
04:40and you ever think about doing competition, well, then go right for it.
04:43And we might see you in a year or two here at the Freeride Junior World Championships
04:46battling for the title.
04:48Love to see you here, battling for the title,
04:50and also love to see you at all the other junior events
04:53which are spread all over the world,
04:54always with very dedicated crews on beautiful venues.
04:58And it's also good times to find friends sharing the same passion.
05:03Yeah, Amélie!
