00:00Hello and welcome to the bar. Come and discover our truck, which is still running on hydrogen
00:10this year for Mission 1000 Dakar future race. We're still learning, improving and progressing.
00:24Welcome to Catalunya, where the KH7 Ecovergy truck was designed with the intention of competing
00:29on the Dakar in a sustainable way.
00:33I'm Jordi Giovanteni, the driver of the truck you see here behind. This truck, as you know,
00:40is powered by a combination of hydrogen and HVO. We're trying to make the truck as clean
00:45as possible or less polluting as possible, and we're achieving that. This year we have
00:50improved the evolution of the engine and therefore we're going to continue with this project
00:54that's given us so much satisfaction.
01:01I'm Xaver Ribas, I'm in charge of the hydrogen systems. For us, it was really a good opportunity
01:13to test the technology in a very tough environment, like in the Dakar. So we found different opportunities
01:20to improve in terms of efficiency, especially in the injection. The truck is providing a
01:27lot of power during all the time and you need it in very fast reactions.
01:33So we store here the hydrogen tanks below the bed, Jordi's bed. It was a little tricky
01:40when we needed to do changes and now we have made it more easy for me to maintain the technology
01:47systems this year. Moreover, we have focused on increasing a bit the injection, because
01:54we will be looking for a bit more power. We are now targeting close to 1,000 horsepower,
02:01because we know the battle will be very strong with other competitors.
02:13During 2024, we have translated this technology to our road trucks and also the newest technology
02:21that we are testing for the Dakar will directly have a role and impact to the vehicles we
02:28are developing.
02:32We are developing our own fuel cell. This will allow vehicles like trucks to run fully
02:39on hydrogen and to generate the energy on board, so no need to store electricity on
02:44the board, on the vehicle.
02:51I am Jose Luis Criado, co-driver of the KH7 Ecovergy truck. This is the 34th time I've
02:58taken part in this Dakar. I think that the person who has enthusiasm learns more and
03:04more things every year. You never stop learning and this year I suppose we will learn more
03:09things and after 34, 33 editions we will learn something more. The moment we stop learning,
03:18we don't leave.
