00:00Week 1 is done and dusted in the Dakar Future Mission 1000, a real technological test for the three projects present on the event, starting with the KF7 hydrogen truck.
00:15This year we worked on improving many things on the truck. We focused on reducing our consumption of hydrogen, we're therefore far cleaner than last year.
00:30It was super interesting, very competitive, also really nice because we had to open the track almost every day, and for a navigator, not having any tracks and trying to manage a clean run is super interesting.
00:43You can really see how the truck is running, so we really enjoyed it a lot. It's just a shame that the distances were a little short, we would have liked more kilometers, but it was great.
00:57The truck is doing great until now, the hydrogen system is working perfectly, so we're very happy by the work done, let's hope it lasts.
01:05It was a first experience on the Dakar for the Segway team and their electric bikes.
01:11Well, the first week was a beautiful one, but also super hard in terms of racing, a real challenge for the bike. We had to find too many things, I felt great.
01:23The bike is heavier than usual, it weighs 240 kilos, so it requires a lot of adapting because I'm not used to it.
01:33So you have to change a little bit how you drive, because if you do some speed, the bike feels difficult to control, so it's difficult.
01:49Back on Mission 1000 for the second year is the Heist project, set up by five of the main Japanese manufacturers.
01:57Some good experience, a lot of data for improvement. This year we put another tank inside of the car and we improved the power.
02:07All the team has progress between the first day and today, the process is to develop the engine, you know.
02:15Our main difficulty is the mileage we have to do, we are quite in the limit.
02:20Hydrogen power is so good, but we must control fuel consumption and some RPM, you know. Many, many data we have to get, yeah.
02:31It's now time to focus on week two.
02:36The goal is to try and finish every stage in the best possible way.
02:41It's a big challenge for the bike, but it's to make sure it goes well in the years to come.
02:47Every day we try to improve the hydrogen system.
02:51We have the engineer in the cabin, he can focus on the data during each liaison and work on the engine map.
02:57We can then use that during the race and see if it's efficient or not, and if we have to change it for the next day.
03:04What we hope for the second week is to absolutely maintain the pace of the race.
03:09And carry on improving the truck and its technology thanks to the data.
03:14And make sure that this Mission 1000 crosses borders, so that the whole world can follow us, if that's possible.
