00:00Starting next week, the members of the LGBTQIA plus community in Manila City Jail will have their own prison.

00:10This is Isaiah Mirafentes' report.

00:15We've been hiding for 5 years in Manila City Jail a man named Len.

00:21In 2019, he was jailed for being involved in illegal drugs.

00:26He is one of almost 100 members of the LGBTQIA plus community

00:31who is a PDL or person deprived of liberty in Manila City Jail.

00:37Next week, it is expected that the members of the LGBTQIA plus community in Manila City Jail will have their own prison.

00:47At first, we were sad because we are used to being in our own cells.

00:54Later on, we understood because the warden explained to us.

00:58The purpose of this is to give protection to the dignity and health of the members of the group.

01:05They call this the Oplan Bahaghari.

01:08We have an assessment and classification unit, the ACU.

01:13When a PDL comes from outside and meets here in BGMP Manila City Jail,

01:18he will undergo a series of interviews.

01:22He will be quarantined.

01:24We use tools to learn about the psychological, emotional, and criminogenic factors of a PDL.

01:32It includes the sexuality of a person.

01:35Aside from this, there are other differences inside Manila City Jail.

01:40Inside this, there is a one-stop shop that has a bakery, barbershop, massage area,

01:46bathhouse, and many more.

01:49It's like you are inside a community that is complete.

01:53Here in Manila City Jail, there is a one-stop shop.

01:56Inside this, there is a bakery called Panaderia de Manila.

01:59We will try to buy from here.

02:01How much is the Spanish bread and the Kababayan?

02:05The Spanish bread is 5 pesos and the Kababayan is 4 pesos.
