In this insightful session, Acharya Ji explores the multifaceted nature of truth, asserting that it can be expressed in countless ways, each valid in its own context. 00:00Truth can be stated in a thousand different ways yet each one can be true.
00:19Truth can be stated in a thousand different ways yet each one can be true.
00:27You can even go a step ahead and say truth must always be stated in a thousand different
00:36ways.
00:37Vivekananda has been a little too liberal upon us, he has just said that truth can be
00:48stated in a thousand ways, truth must be stated in a thousand ways because the truth is fundamentally
00:53nothing.
00:54A statement of truth is just any statement arising from your pure nothingness.
01:05That nothingness has no agenda of its own, it only seeks expression and the expression
01:09is always according to the situation and because the world is always in a flux so two situations
01:15are never the same.
01:18Which means one expression of truth can never never be the same as another expression.
01:26That means not only truth can be stated in a thousand ways, truth will necessarily be
01:33stated in a thousand ways.
01:37Which means that even if one is talking on something in this moment and the same topic
01:47and the same audience repeats itself an hour later, the talk is bound to be different.
01:57Which means that the truth is not going to follow even itself.
02:04Truth is such a rebel, truth is such a non-conformist.
02:10One statement of truth is never going to be identical to the next statement.
02:15In fact, there are chances that one statement of truth can in fact contradict another statement
02:21of truth.
02:22So, those who are looking for conformity or continuity or consistency are always going
02:28to be disappointed.
02:33In one situation you state it in one way, in another situation it emerges in another
02:39way.
02:40Because the truth fundamentally is an openness, an emptiness, a nothingness, a cleanliness.
02:49Truth is like a mirror, a well-polished, clean, shining mirror.
02:56In one moment, because the situation is white, the mirror will reflect white.
03:04Other moment the situation is black, the mirror will reflect black.
03:07That is how the truth is.
03:09Neither it has to add something on its own nor does it have to subtract anything on its
03:16own.
03:17It just reflects.
03:18Are you getting it?
03:19So, generally the statements which you call as a statement of truth, they are generally
03:35presented to us as facts.
03:39In the sense that they don't have opposites?
03:43No, they might have opposites.
03:47They definitely have opposites.
03:50You see...
03:51I don't know what is the difference between fact and truth.
03:57Is there a difference?
03:59Fact is one thing.
04:04And the opposite of a fact will not be a fact.
04:10But the opposite of truth would again be truth.
04:17It is a fact that you are sitting here, when it cannot be a fact that you are present on
04:22the terrace at this moment.
04:29But it is true that you are nothing and it is equally true that you are everything.
04:43The truth contains within itself its own opposite also.
04:48Because nothing lies outside of it.
04:54Fact is always a fragment, a littleness, observable through senses.
05:04Fact is always something that you can express within the finite limits of language.
05:14Fact is always about something little.
05:22Truth is neither perceivable through senses, nor is it about something little, nor does
05:30it have an opposite, nor does it get contradicted or offended.
05:37In fact, when you say the truth, there can be no statement of the truth.
05:52You can only have statements arising from the truth.
05:59And when you are in the truth, then any and every statement arising from you is a statement
06:06of truth.
06:10It could be the most nonsensical and meaningless statement and yet it would be a statement
06:15of truth.
06:20Lovingly, you just utter something senseless to someone.
06:33It is the highest truth.
06:39You might say something which is not even within the comprehension of language.
06:49It is still the truth.
06:59The devotee says to his God, You are my Lord, Truth.
07:15He next says, You are my father, Truth.
07:20He next says, You are my husband, Truth.
07:23Next says, You are my friend, Truth.
07:26Next he says, You are nobody, Truth.
07:28Next he says, You are abracadabra.
07:30That is also truth.
07:33Seated in the truth, whatever comes out from you is the truth.
07:42And that is why truth is not verifiable.
07:45Because that statement in itself is meaningless.
07:49What matters is where that statement came from.
07:57The same statement coming from one center is a statement of truth.
08:02The same statement coming from another center is the ugliest deception.
08:11Your basic simplicity, innocence is truth.
08:18From there, just casually, effortlessly, do whatever you want to do.
08:27Whatever you do would be an action of truth.
08:30Whatever you say would be a statement of truth.
08:33The truth really cannot be contained in any statement.
08:40But an infinite number of statements will emerge from the truth.
08:45No one statement can have monopoly over the truth.
08:49Every single possible conceivable statement can be a statement of truth.
08:58Provided it is coming from your inner peace.
09:02Arising from your peace, whatever you say is the inner truth.
09:11Siddhartha sir wants to ask, without knowing the fact, how can we decide what is truth?
09:22You do not decide what is truth.
09:26You limit yourself to facts.
09:31And that is a nice thing that you are talking of.
09:35Do go into the facts as clearly and as honestly as possible.
09:40You leave the truth to itself.
09:43You do not burden yourself about judging the truth.
09:48The truth is anyway harassed with too many judges.
09:53You need not add one more.
09:57Limit yourself to facts.
10:00Look at the facts around you and look at the facts of your own life.
10:04Honestly.
10:05Ruthlessly.
10:06And at the same time, with compassion.
10:10Being ruthless does not mean being violent.
10:15It only means being detached.
10:18Very, very sharply.
10:23Very purely.
10:26Without any adulteration.
10:29Know what you are, how your life is like, what is really going on.
10:36That is called living in facts.
10:41If you do not live in facts, then you will live in fantasies, imaginations.
10:47That will hurt.
10:52You may keep imagining that you are walking on a beautifully paved road.
10:59But if there is a pothole in front of you,
11:04imaginations will not save you.
11:08It will hurt.
11:11So, learn to live in facts.
11:14If you are living in facts, the truth will take care of you.
11:19In fact, unless the truth is taking care of you,
11:24you will find it difficult to live in facts.
11:28Limit yourself to facts.
11:31Just do not think of the truth.
11:34Leave the truth to itself.
11:36Do not bug it.
11:39You must have nothing to do with the truth at all.
11:43The truth is not at all your business.
11:46Do not bother about the truth.
