00:00Reenactment of the arrival of General Douglas MacArthur in Pangasinan during World War II took place.
00:07This was after a long debate on where exactly was the arrival of the General in the province.
00:13The details in the national news of Ricky Cacipit of Radyo Pilipinas, Dagupan.
00:18I shall return.
00:21That was the famous statement of General Douglas MacArthur when they landed their ship in Palolete during World War II in 1944.
00:31But if the January 1945 landing of the General is the topic of discussion,
00:35it was only now that the long debate on where exactly MacArthur landed in Pangasinan took place.
00:42Based on a military document from James Zubel, an archivist of MacArthur Memorial Park in Norfolk, Virginia,
00:49in the town of Tondaligan Blue Beach, part of Dingayngo, the General landed.
00:54This confirmation is important because MacArthur landing was the proof of the complete liberation of Luzon from the hands of the Japanese.
01:03The purpose of this is first and foremost to teach people about our history
01:10and to recognize the bravery of our ancestors who fought for our freedom.
01:20And because it was the 80th anniversary of MacArthur's return to the Philippines,
01:25a reenactment was made to let the young people of Dagupeno know its importance.
01:31The proposed General Douglas MacArthur Park was also shown in the activity to preserve the history.
01:38From Radyo Pilipinas, Dagupan City, Pangasinan, this is Ricky Casipid for Balitang Pambansang.
