00:00Since 2017, I've been raising the crisis facing East Kent Hospitals Trust.
00:05Seven different health secretaries across those seven years have promised much,
00:09but delivered nothing at all. Patients continue to face unacceptably long waits on trolleys
00:14in corridors, and last month the Kent Online paper compared these conditions to a war zone,
00:20with an average of 40 very ill patients a day facing more than 12-hour waits.
00:25Will the Secretary of State meet with me and the CEO of our trust, who's desperate for even the
00:30most basic diagnostic equipment, to ensure this doesn't continue to be the case for another seven
00:35years? Yes, Mr Speaker, either myself or the Minister of State for Health would be delighted
00:40to meet the Honourable Member. She's right to describe the scale of challenge in urgent
00:45emergency care. Of course, there are other challenges in East Kent, particularly in
00:48maternity services, which I'm acutely aware of too, and I'd be delighted to work with her to
00:52help solve some of those challenges in her community.
