00:00A road running through the Downs in Bristol could close for a trial weekend this summer,
00:08as suggested by local advisers. Ladies Mile Road intersects Clifton Down and runs from
00:15the middle of Stoke Road to the top of Bridge Valley Road and acts as a key road to get
00:20onto the Portway and into Henleys. Robert Westlake, Chairman of the Downs Advisory
00:25Panel has said that Ladies Mile is suffering from antisocial behaviour that has really
00:30escalated including speeding and parking on the grass regardless of the double yellow
00:35lines. The road could now be closed on a trial bank holiday weekend in summer 2025 to see
00:42if the problems reduce. The trial would still allow bicycles access down the popular road.
00:50The panel does not have the power to close the road itself but can suggest changes that
00:55can be made to help the road's antisocial behaviour problems.
