00:00Water is important in our lives, even in our simple daily activities like drinking, cooking, and cleaning.
00:07That's why many projects are focused on water care.
00:11In fact, an event will be held in Maraso to discuss solutions and initiatives for the proper management of water in the country.
00:19Let's find out the details about the Water Philippines 2025 Conference and Exposition
00:24In a busy interview with the Philippine Waterworks Association's Executive Director, Dr. Dickson Sanjuan,
00:35VP for National Affairs, and Partner Organizer, Ms. Rose Shitanuat.
00:41Good morning.
00:42Good morning.
00:44Welcome to RSP.
00:45Happy New Year.
00:47Alright, this is important.
00:48We all need water.
00:51Tell us more first about your organization, PWWA or PAWA.
00:57Yes, good morning, Rise and Shine.
01:00The Philippine Waterworks Association has been the umbrella organization of private and government agencies,
01:08as well as individuals in the development of water supply.
01:15And the PAWA has been a vital role in advancing the water security, innovations, solutions, and sustainability
01:29through its annual event, the Fill Water and Water Philippines.
01:35And also, the Philippine Waterworks conduct seminars, trainings, in promoting the new product with new technologies
01:46for the better future of the industry in the Philippines.
01:51So you are helping both the public and private sector, correct?
01:56Yes.
01:57So you also have members from different sectors, academia, government?
02:02We have the manufacturer, suppliers, contractors, consultants, academe, and for the government sectors,
02:10we have MWSS, PWWA, the Local Water Utilities Administration, the DPWH and DILG,
02:19and also PAWA, the Philippine Water Association of the Philippines.
02:25What are the usual problems or challenges that the country faces when it comes to water?
02:36In the whole Philippines, water security and sustainability is the number one issue.
02:43And this is what we are focusing on.
02:46As a matter of fact, one of the goals of the Water Philippines is to advance water security and sustainability.
02:55Because in water sustainability, it is important to talk about it because water is important to everyone.
03:02So Water Philippines is helping our country to have new technologies, ideas, and innovations
03:16that can help our water utilities and the water sector.
03:22Alright, Dr. Sanujan, we showed you earlier, I think that was your event in 2023, right?
03:27And you were there with President Ferdinand R. Marcos. Tell us about the highlights of that event.
03:32The 2023 event that was raised by our President, BBM,
03:42was an exhibition, Water Philippines 2023,
03:50where we saw and appreciated new technologies and innovations.
03:56It was really fun because the President himself saw the importance of water.
04:03And I was happy and we were happy because during the speech of the President,
04:09I really saw his passion for the water sector.
04:13And now, I can see that both our Chamber of Congress, the House and Senate,
04:23are really pushing the Department of Water.
04:27And hopefully, that will be a big help to our water sector
04:33to ensure water and sustainability as well.
04:39So you are in favor of having a Department of Water?
04:44It's really a favor because the Philippines is very fragmented in water agencies.
04:51So there should be a lead agency that will manage
04:55to focus on water security and sustainability because it's very important.
05:01Because a country cannot be affected if there is no security in water.
05:05Because water is what we need to survive.
05:09Ms. Rose, you have an upcoming event, the Water Philippines 2025 Conference and Exposition.
05:16What is the goal of this event?
05:20Tell us about this event.
05:21So the Water Philippines Expo 2025, we continue working with PAWA,
05:27which is our strategic partner in bringing the innovation, technology,
05:33and all around to make water for Philippines country.
05:39So it is focused on from the drinking water to waste water management.
05:46Back to Mr. Dickson mentioned about water security, sustainability.
05:50Water is important for every household, every business unit.
05:55So the way we are looking at that is how we bring the technology innovation into Philippines,
06:01how to sustain the water supply in Philippines.
06:05So in the show, there will be around 400 companies,
06:09over 400 companies from around the world, more than 14 countries
06:14that exhibit and showcase their innovative technology,
06:19how to produce water, how to do desalination,
06:24for like changing the seawater into the water that ready to use.
06:28So this kind of thing is going to happen at the show.
06:32And we expect this to attract 12,000 trade visitors from hospitality,
06:40from hotel, from agriculture, from aquaculture to see how they can utilize water,
06:48produce water, and even manage water after they use it like waste management concept.
06:55Okay.
06:56So even if you're like from household, businesses, or different organizations,
07:01you can actually learn from this conference.
07:05Is this open to Filipino organizations?
07:08Is this free?
07:09Is there a fee?
07:10Yes.
07:10Okay.
07:12Actually, this is open.
07:15But our attendees here need to register to make sure that the program is going smoothly.
07:25Actually, the students, especially the students of engineering,
07:32are very important attendees here so that they can see the technology and innovation
07:39that can help our country and their practice in the future.
07:45Actually, the academe often joins here.
07:48And the government agencies like water districts, like MWSS, LUA, they join
07:57because they see that there is something to learn and something to get.
08:01Even the big suppliers, they join.
08:04Not just to get customers, but to really help our sector grow.
08:12So how can those who want to join, how can they reach out to you?
08:20There is a site, Water Philippines, that you can see on Facebook.
08:27They can see the site.
08:29They can register.
08:31It's easy.
08:32They just type Water Philippines on Facebook.
08:34They can see it right away.
08:36So they can register free of charge?
08:40Free of charge.
08:41Yes.
08:41And it is just going to the website, waterphilippinesexpo.com.
08:46So they can register to the event.
08:48And the event is biannual every two years.
08:52So this is a good opportunity for Filipinos to visit.
08:56And we attract international visitors to the show.
08:59Have a variety of conference by power.
09:01And our partners are doing some workshop about water sanitation as well.
09:08All right.
09:08Interesting.
09:09It seems like you will really learn a lot here just by going there.
09:43They can have the water rain harvesting facility.
10:13But I want to go again to Ms. Nanette, please do invite all our viewers to participate
10:42in this activity.
10:43Go ahead.
10:44We would like to invite each and everyone to attend the Water Philippines 2025.
10:52And also the PhilWater.
10:56We have an event also in Davao on September.
11:01Please do register in our event.
11:08Thank you very much, Ms. Nanette.
11:11Dr. Dickson and Ms. Rose, thank you very much.
11:13And we, Aya, I think we can register now, Daniel.
11:18Even for the media, you will learn a lot here about water and the latest about innovation
11:25and technology.
11:26Thank you very much.
11:26Long live to you.
11:28Thank you so much.
