00:00World Children's Day was held today.
00:03It was held in celebration of the great role of the elderly
00:07for the good life of the children.

00:18Kenneth, World Children's Day was held today by children and young at heart
00:23here in a mall in Taguig City.
00:27Today, UNICEF Philippines held the EMPOWERED YOUTH FEST
00:33where the elderly are encouraged to listen to the future
00:38and consider the three megatrends that affect the lives of children
00:43such as population change, climate crisis, environment change, and new technology.
00:49The children are also encouraged to imagine their future
00:54and envision the world they want to live in by the year 2050.
00:58Here, Besaad Novari, acting representative of UNICEF in the Philippines,
01:03mentioned the 2024 State of World Children's Report
01:07where many youths in the country will live in misery.
01:11Few women will have children
01:14and the typhoons that may hit the Philippines will be stronger.
01:19Novari also mentioned that these challenges need urgent action
01:24to protect the rights of the children.
01:26UNICEF urged the government to listen to the youth
01:30when it comes to their ideas and invest in education
01:34and ensure that the youth will be a productive member of society as they grow up.
01:39For the Department of Education,
01:42Education Assistant Secretary Georgina Yang said
01:45that the agency continues to address the lack of education
01:49and books for public education in the country.
01:52The DepEd also said that they will launch a dynamic learning system
01:56in affected regions where it will help teachers and parents
02:05to continue their children's education
02:08despite the spread of diseases.
02:12The Philippines was one of the leaders in the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989
02:17that protects the civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights of children.
