00:00G'day from the Bureau with your national weather forecast around the country for Thursday the 9th
00:05of January. And it's looking pretty quiet once again with high pressure dominating much of the
00:10country. The only wet weather on Thursday will be around the showers and storms across our tropical
00:15north, very typical for this time of year. Showers and thunderstorms also through parts of New South
00:20Wales and South East Queensland and maybe Western Victoria as well, while elsewhere it will be fine,
00:25dry and sunny. Now let's look at all this in more detail. Firstly in Queensland, continuing the story
00:32of very hot, dry and sunny weather out in western parts with temperatures in the low 40s there.
00:37Showers and storms across the tropical north as we see this time of year, pretty dry along much
00:42of the coast but are seeing widespread showers and thunderstorms through southeastern parts of
00:46Queensland, including around the Brisbane area which is looking at 29 degrees on Thursday. Moving
00:53down the coast we'll continue to see showers and thunderstorms through eastern parts of New South
00:57Wales and some of these could be severe with heavy rain, large hail and damaging winds, so watch out
01:02for that. While west of the ranges, hot, dry and sunny conditions will continue with temperatures
01:07in the low to high 30s, while a bit cooler on the coast looking at 26 with showers in Sydney
01:13and 28 degrees and a few clouds in Canberra. Then moving down into Victoria, dry, hot and sunny day
01:20across much of the state, many seeing temperatures in the low to mid 30s. Could see a few showers and
01:25thunderstorms though through western parts and staying cool along the coast just under 30 degrees.
01:30Melbourne looking at a partly cloudy 31. Down in Tasmania, another beautiful summer's day there with
01:37temperatures in the mid to high 20s, although a little bit cooler for coastal areas with lots of
01:42sunshine. Hobart looking at 24 degrees with a few clouds. Moving up into South Australia, another
01:49hot and sunny one on the way. Temperatures in the low 40s through northern parts of the state,
01:54low to mid 30s through southern parts, maybe a shower or storm near the eastern border areas,
01:59but generally looking at a sunny day across much of the state. And Adelaide looking at warm 33
02:05there. Perth looking at a sunny 30 degrees, temperatures likely to be in the low to mid 30s
02:10across much of the state, getting hotter across northern parts with temperatures in the low 40s
02:15and showers and storms across the interior and Pilbara area, but otherwise another dry and
02:21settled day. Then finally across the tropical north looking at temperatures again in the low 40s
02:27through southern parts of the NT, high to mid 30s elsewhere, widespread showers and storms across
02:32the Kimberley, Top End and Cape York as well. Darwin looking at 34 degrees with a few showers
