00:00a challenge for a country.
00:02But I think what is great is that the last 10 years have
00:05been phenomenal for Indian sport in terms
00:07of the kind of support which the sportspersons are getting.
00:10So today, players are aspirational.
00:13Today, the government is wanting to make sport big.
00:16The prime minister is hugely responsible for the way
00:19he's interacted with the sports in general.
00:23And I think it's a very positive environment.
00:25And we have grown aspirationally too fast.
00:29And our systems are not still in place,
00:31is what I would think.
00:33And it's great to see that a lot of effort
00:35is being made to get the systems in place.
00:48Well, I think systemic development, coaches
00:51development, I think accountability,
00:53these are three things which I think across the board,
00:55everyone's spoken about.
00:57And surely, I think these are areas
01:00which are already being worked in the last few months
01:02and will continue to do in the future as well.
01:13Well, I think the meeting was very progressive
01:15and productive.
01:15I think a lot of points for the development of sport
01:19from grassroot till the elite were discussed.
01:24The drawbacks that the Paris cycle had
01:27were discussed as well, and how we
01:29would go forward to implement and make
01:32the systems much better in the 2028 LA cycle
01:36were also discussed.
01:38I think fantastic points by a lot of MOC members.
01:41This is the first MOC meeting under the leadership
01:45of the Honorable Sports Minister, Shri Manjulsri.
01:49And I feel that this particular MOC,
01:53which has been constituted, brings
01:55a lot of experience, a lot of depth, and a lot of knowledge
01:59into the sport.
02:00There are NGOs who are helping develop sport.
02:04There are sports promotion boards involved in this.
02:09There are ex-athletes.
02:11There are Olympic medalists involved in the MOC.
02:14So I think it's a great amalgamation
02:16of a lot of sectors, which is probably being
02:20done for the very first time.
02:22Earlier, I would feel that a lot of them
02:26felt in the meeting that they were working in silos.
02:29But I think Manjulsri put it out very, very nicely,
02:32saying that we all have to work together
02:34for the betterment of sports, and not just give ideas,
02:37but also go one step ahead to implement,
02:39see them implementing these ideas
02:42in a more constructive and result-oriented way.
02:48So it was a very productive meeting.
02:49The data that you talked about was a system change
02:52that needs to be there, an ecosystem as far as
02:54sports persons are concerned, and more responsibility
02:58and accountability.
02:59How do you look at this?
03:00Well, absolutely.
03:01I think that these discussions are not new.
03:04There have been accountabilities set before.
03:07And I think they need to be enforced now
03:09in a much stronger way.
03:11I also feel that the athletes are and should
03:15be treated like a family, which a lot of people
03:19agree to as well.
03:20And there is more personal rapport with the TOPS team.
03:24And a lot of athletes reach out to a lot of MOC members,
03:27which is a great thing now.
03:28There is more communication between the athlete
03:31and the system.
03:32So I think great points came out of this meeting.
03:36And I think we'll be able to implement them
03:38in a much stronger way going forward.
03:45Sir, this was the first meeting of the year of the MOC.
03:50You met the sports minister.
03:52What happened in the meeting, and what was the plan?
03:55I think a very, very good and valuable meeting today.
03:59Very important points discussed.
04:03One is, obviously, a little bit of the post-mortem of Paris,
04:07and to understand what went well, what did not go so well.
04:11Also, more importantly, solutions and strategies
04:16on the way forward.
04:18I think the honorable minister really
04:23emphasized on the importance of very strong grassroots
04:27and junior programs.
04:29He emphasized on development of Indian coaches.
04:35And also, to have really strong systems and processes,
04:40especially when we are preparing not just
04:42from the point of view of LA-28, but when
04:44you're talking about 32 and 36.
04:46And these are not just some, like, say, selection,
04:49but also in terms of things like monitoring and accountability.
04:53So very valuable discussions today.
04:55Of course, talking about hockey, especially,
04:57we have had two bronze medals.
