00:00Good evening, Luzon Visayas and Mindanao.
00:04Some Chinese hacked the website of the Office of the President
00:10according to the report of the international media company Bloomberg.
00:14As for those who obtained the important documents,
00:17like the information in the West Philippine Sea.
00:19The report was not confirmed by the DICT and AFP,
00:22but they continue to strengthen the nation's cyber security.
00:27This is Ivan Mayrena.
00:33Based on Bloomberg's report,
00:35the Office of the President hacked the website
00:37and obtained some important military documents,
00:39including the information in the South China Sea,
00:42where the West Philippine Sea is located.
00:44This happened from 2023 to mid-2024.
00:48But according to the DICT,
00:50the last hacking that obtained information
00:53was between 2018 and 2022.
00:57We're able to detect them early on.
01:00And when we do so,
01:04we are able to secure the database.
01:09What we've seen so far are old data from many years ago
01:14that are being rejurgitated or, you know,
01:20recycled just to make an impression
01:27that they were successful in doing so.
01:30The Armed Forces of the Philippines also did not confirm
01:33the recent hacking,
01:34but they continue to strengthen the nation's cyber security,
01:37according to the President's order as Commander-in-Chief.
01:40The Philippines' allies are also helping.
01:44We have been trying to tweak our organization
01:50to the contemporary new challenges.
01:53We are able to detect and we are able to deter these attacks.
01:58Every day, hundreds of thousands of cyber attacks
02:01or hacking of websites are being monitored
02:04and hacked by the DICT.
02:06It's the same thing that all countries are facing.
02:09It is expected that there will be more of these
02:11as the election approaches.
02:13What's happening is that there are more fake information
02:18or disinformation.
02:20There are attempts at compromising certain infrastructure
02:29like websites that are...
02:33They are trying to deface some websites
02:36or try to introduce malicious software.
02:42The DICT is also worried about the use of scammers and hackers
02:45as a tool to incite scam techs
02:48to the real texts of legit accounts of companies
02:51like Telco.
02:52They are worried that this is legit,
02:54so they are following the recipients
02:56even if they only get their information
02:58to enter their e-wallet, bank, or social media accounts.
03:02They are already studying how this can be stopped.
