00:00Yeah, it's just so hard and takes everything from you, from your mind, from your body,
00:06just to put that inside the car with your co-driver and try to win it.
00:17In the motorsports, we do have a lot of engagement with Formula 1 because of course we have Emerson
00:24Fittipaldi, Edinson and Nelson Piquet, so a lot of great champions.
00:28And Brazilians are used to winning on this sport, but it's nice.
00:34I know we have a long way to go to try to bring this sport together and make it bigger.
00:40Yeah, it just became an obsession.
00:44At home I talk to my wife and say everything is about Dakar and how can we improve, how
00:49can we get better.
00:58My first year I was so new to everything, so my main goal was not to crash.
01:05I want to live the whole experience of the 14 days and try to learn as much as possible.
01:11Of course I was racing with my idols like Nasa and Sainz and Loeb and Peter Hensel.
01:19When you join a factory team and then you have to go there again, you have to change
01:23your mind.
01:24They are still my idols, but I need to try to beat them.
01:34The beginning of the Dakar was really tough for me because I had my daughter with meningitis
01:39in the hospital in Brazil.
01:41And then, ok, every time I put on the helmet you try to focus on doing your job and when
01:47I came to the finish line and saw on the panel the best time, it was a great feeling.
01:54And again it was the first win for a Brazilian driver ever in the history of Dakar, so it
02:00was a lot of mixed emotions and I was so proud of the team to be able to deliver one win
02:06for them.
02:11I try to improve in everything.
02:15I know that I kind of have the speed on the tracks, but open desert and dunes is where
02:20I need to catch up.
02:22I think these top guys, they really know how to read the race and how to attack and where
02:29to defend and how the strategy plays out.
02:31I definitely really, really want to beat them, I have to tell you, but I know how hard it
02:37is.
02:38They are a legend for a reason and yeah, they are, but I hope we can manage to beat them
02:44one day.
