00:00You've done lots of things. You're passionate about it. You have to go back to the Dakar.
00:10I won my first special stage on the Dakar. It's fabulous. It's a dream, really.
00:16I've always done the Dakar to try and win it. I finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I was 6th. I gave up. I suffered big crashes.
00:27I've done 20 Dakars and I've seen some crazy stories. And today, I want to do a Dakar and enjoy the Dakar.
00:37The morning starts, you know, when all the riders meet up, we all hug each other. We know we're going to war.
00:44We know why we're going. We know how. And we all look at each other with a lot of respect.
00:50These are powerful moments. Powerful moments because you know that afterwards, you're leaving and maybe you can't be there the next day.
00:57You know that 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and 0 when you find yourself on your bike and you leave. It's an incredible feeling.
01:06It's only you. You, your bike, your choice of routes, your choice of navigation, your mistakes, your doubts, that physicality, the taste of blood in your mouth,
01:15those dunes you're going to climb, those rocks, that apprehension, the night falling, it all stays with you.
01:23And that's something I want to experience again.
01:31The Dakar rally raid has changed. Today, it's dangerous. We all know that.
01:36You can't just turn up on the Dakar and snap your fingers. Hello, it's me. I arrive and I get on my bike. That's no longer the case.
01:42The amateurs have their place if they are prepared. In any case, today in bikes, to do the Dakar, you have to do some races beforehand.
01:50So automatically, it's guys who have a technique and who ride. So the level has gone up a notch.
01:57I've put in a year of preparation because I don't want to suffer. I want to live it and experience it.
02:02My goal is to be caught by as little cars as possible.
02:07What I want is to ride cleanly and to be present and to ride and experience my personal Dakar.
02:17There are thousands of people who dream of doing it. And then one day, you're there.
02:22You pass that first gear and you climb that starting ramp. It's something that's really hard to explain.
