00:00I think more than saying bias, I'll say there is a system which keeps changing every year.
00:14There was a system when I myself remember, and I must say this, that I have given my opportunities to a lot of such actors because they were fellow friends.
00:25I won't say given, I'll say it was suggested. Now they are very big names.
00:30So, I refused to do television, so I used to tell them, why don't you try and everything, if you are okay for it and everything.
00:38So, they used to try and they clicked.
00:41So, I did this because I had an aura that if you do television, because you are from the film background and everything,
00:50it's very difficult to get films, people won't take it seriously.
00:53So, that bridge, the gap between the bridge has sort of become null and void.
00:59It's still there because that's the thing, you know, you are overexposed or maybe it's a different requirement.
01:07And TV actors don't get time anyway, I'm pretty sure because they are working around the clock.
01:13So, that was definitely a challenge.
01:16So, I feel that instead of bias, there's a system and the system that is changing now,
01:21like a lot of television actors I'm seeing who have done very well and they're doing good in movies as well.
01:29Talk about Vikrant, Shushant, all these guys have come from television and have done reasonably well.
01:37So, I think you don't get your merit.
01:41We are the guys, when we come in the web series, nobody really cares how big a star you are if you can't perform.
01:48So, I think that's where we score, when they come purely because of casting, purely because of your look and your talent.
01:55And I think it's been hard. I really wish there are equal opportunities.
02:00Talk about Vikrant, Shushant, all these guys have come from television and they're doing reasonably well.
02:05So, I think you don't get your merit. We are the guys, when we come in the web series, nobody really cares how big a star you are if you can't perform.
02:11So, I think it's been hard. I really wish there are equal opportunities.
02:14Talk about Vikrant, Shushant, all these guys have come from television and they're doing reasonably well.
02:19So, I think it's been hard. I really wish there are equal opportunities.
02:23That's why I'm blessed also and I see to it that I have a team who understands the kind of a person I am, the performer I am.
02:31And then they take me on board because I think I never try to do OTT.
02:38I try finding real characters or adding a bit of realism in that character.
02:41So, luckily I've been blessed in that sense.
02:47But I feel that the medium is so dynamic.
02:51It's very difficult to hold the same expression and play it out for almost 30 seconds and make a 22-25 minute episode.
03:00It's very difficult.
03:01And high drama, the script keeps changing.
03:03So, sometimes they say that this is not working.
03:05We need a bit louder expression, we need this, we need that.
03:08That's the medium.
03:09But if you look at the same actors, if I talk about myself, I'm in a different platform.
03:14It'll be a little more nuanced, a little more real.
03:16Sometimes you have to go over with your expressions or you have to hold it.
03:20You won't do it in real life.
03:22So, that's the name of the game, I guess.
03:25But not challenging.
03:27I just feel that it's the dues you should get as an actor first.
03:33Any good casting director and most of the casting directors I've come across, they never differentiate.
03:39They give you equal amount of respect.
03:44A necessary choice, for sure.
03:48These days, you know the condition of movies.
03:52So, the so-called boom that's going to happen or people are going to go back to theatres.
03:59When it happens, it happens.
04:01We all are here to, you know, they say that when your pocket is happy, you automatically become happy.
04:10When you feel a little more confident, you feel a little more relaxed.
04:14So, that is very important.
04:16I see a lot of, you know, somebody recently asked me that I want to do something of my own.
04:22I'm thinking of investing my money.
04:24I said, fair enough.
04:25If you think you're going to get the returns, invest your money.
04:28Make a movie on yourself.
04:29Do whatever you want.
04:30I don't recommend it.
04:31I think that you should always have money for your lifestyle and your life.
04:39Then your passion comes in.
04:41There's no point having put in all your monies in your passion.
04:45I was watching an old interview of Amit Ji.
04:49Where he went in through a loss and he literally had to ask Yash Ji for work.
04:57I've never come across such novice actors.
04:59So, I think, just balance out and earn money.
05:03And follow your passion.
05:12I won't say dominance, but I'll tell you that there's a very easy way for them to go.
05:19If you're somebody's son who's made a name and obviously, you know, your portfolio becomes different.
05:26Access becomes very easy.
05:29And I've seen that.
05:30I've seen that.
05:31There are people I've been trying to get in touch with.
05:34Just on the pure merit that I fit the part.
05:37But that's not enough.
05:38You have to have some kind of good amount of contact.
05:46But more than anything else, I think...
05:50If I have a friend, I'll definitely hug him.
05:53If a stranger comes up to me and says, I don't know your friend.
05:57So, how will I react?
05:58It's a very human nature to this.
06:00I think it's not a system oriented thing.
06:03It's just like a personal level.
06:05But insiders, outsiders.
06:06Eventually, there are a lot of insiders who have not worked.
06:10So, it's all in front of you.
06:11I think, for inclusion, the first thing you should do is to make a good film, a good product.
06:27You know, be true to that.
06:29If you go for marketing...
06:31What we do here is, we've turned an art form into a business.
06:38We see our art and craft as a business.
06:41No one has any knowledge.
06:45If anyone had such knowledge, all his films would have been a hit.
06:50Super hit, jubilee hit.
06:53It's just that you've come here on a risk factor.
06:57And you have to take that forward.
07:00So, if you have to take forward the risk factor, how will you do it?
07:03Gut feeling.
07:04And I don't think the first impression or first gut feeling is ever wrong.
07:08I think that's what you need to be there for.
07:11I think, the thing that you work hard for and it takes so much effort in our industry.
07:17Day and night you're working.
07:18You should follow that.
07:20I've seen filmmakers who...
07:22If you talk about a film like Shahid, it must have been made in 20-30 lakhs.
07:29Everyone put in their own efforts.
07:32Hansal sir never looked back.
07:35Rajkumar Rao never looked back after that.
07:38So, I think, you have to be honest to your craft.
07:40And try to make a film or try to make a TV show or this.
07:45Just for entertainment.
07:47Whether it's entertainment or content, you have to concentrate on that.
07:51I think that is the only thing.
07:52This corporatization that has happened, people have forgotten why you come to the movies.
