00:00The construction of a bridge that will connect the barangay islands of Dagupan City has already begun.
00:05This is the details of the national news of OD Mamaril of the Philippine Information Agency, Pangasinan.
00:13After almost ten years of heavy flooding in Anuri in 1935,
00:18the Franklin Bridge or Calumet Bridge that connects the city of Dagupan and Pinmalay
00:22will be re-constructed, the so-called successful bridge.
00:25After its groundbreaking ceremony,
00:28with the help of DPWH Region 1 and the approval of Congressman Christopher de Venecia,
00:33it is expected that a new Calumet Bridge will be built,
00:36which is an important component project of Zambales, Pangasinan, Bypass, and Diversion Road.
00:40According to Congressman de Venecia,
00:42this project will further improve the connection, safety, and economic development of the city of Dagupan.
00:48It's nice that this bridge will make our lives easier.
00:54But even then, we need to take care of the culture of the boats
00:59because that's what gives character and soul to the city of Dagupan.
01:06The new bridge is expected to provide benefits to more than 16,000 residents in the island barangay
01:11who currently rely on boats as transportation.
01:14The new bridge is expected to reduce the travel time from 45 minutes to 15 to 20 minutes only.
01:22We've been waiting for this bridge for a long time in our barangay
01:26because the city is getting closer to us.
01:29It's only 5 minutes away from the city.
01:32Unlike before, you have to go around for more than 40 minutes.
01:36That's why this new bridge is of great benefit to our barangay.
01:40The construction is expected to be completed in 2026 with a budget of P1.8 billion.
