00:00The forensic examination of the underwater drone that was discovered in Masbate is ongoing.
00:06But it's too early to say this in China, according to the National Security Council.
00:12Chino Gaston was on the scene.
00:17The National Security Council has yet to say which country has the underwater drone found in Masbate.
00:23The yellow drone, which is almost 3 meters long and has markings of HY119,
00:29was found floating in the sea by fishermen a few kilometers from the town of San Pascual.
00:35The National Security Council is in charge of the possible implications of this for national security.
00:41The underwater drone was placed under the Forensic Investigation of the Philippine Navy
00:46to find out who has the ability to do it and what it can do.
00:50It's hard to speculate as to the possible motives of this drone.
00:58If it comes from this certain country and what it does is illegal,
01:04then we can say and make a conclusion.
01:08Let's just give our authorities enough time.
01:11In the first PNP investigation, it's possible that China used the drone based on its markings.
01:17Even though the forensic examination is ongoing,
01:20the Philippine Navy has a basis for saying that the drone was not used by the military.
01:25The color is somewhat yellow, usually orange, bright red, yellow, yellow green.
01:32This is designed to be seen in the air.
01:34So this is most likely for scientific research or for fishery.
01:38Is it possible to see the seabed, the formation of our ocean?
01:45Yes, this is possible.
01:46This is just based on what we saw in the first images and pictures.
01:52But we have to also factor in the size of its batteries, especially if it is remotely operated.
01:58This scenario is not new.
02:00If there is an exercise, if our treaty ally is using similar equipment,
02:06there are reports that it is cut off or lost control.
02:09After a few months, we can see that it is already on the shoreline.
02:12If only the images are the basis,
02:14Professor J Batung-Bakal believes that this is a glider,
02:18an autonomous underwater vehicle used to retrieve data from the sea
02:24and transmit it back to an operator.
02:27The Chinese embassy has yet to comment on the PNP's first investigation
02:32that it is possible that the underwater drone was obtained from China.
