00:00The Department of Budget and Management, or DBM, has already approved the medical allowance for the government officials to be implemented this 2025.

00:10Details of this were reported by Noel Talacay of PTV Manila.

00:16Mang Bernabe is now a senior citizen. He is a government employee.

00:20At his age, he is already experiencing a lot in his body that is affecting his health.

00:27Sometimes, I feel nauseous. When I feel nauseous, I just relax my body.

00:42But he doesn't go to the doctor because of the lack of budget.

00:47What's more important to him is his daily expenses and monthly payments.

00:53I am trying to save money because I don't have other thoughts other than my daily expenses.

01:02These needs in the health of government employees like Mang Bernabe seems to have an answer

01:10because the Department of Budget and Management, or DBM, has already approved the medical allowance for government employees to be implemented this 2025.

01:21A government employee will receive P7,000 per year in the medical allowance.

01:27But there are some qualifications in the status of employment, such as the scope of medical assistance.

01:33This does not include the contract of service and job orders.

01:37According to DBM, the medical allowance can be added to the health maintenance organization, or HMO, of government employees who have this.

01:48But DBM also said that it can also be used as cash for those who have their own HMO

01:54and those who are paying their own medical expenses that will only be paid by the hospital,

02:00including emergency care, tests, and medicines.

02:04For those who don't have an HMO, they should first leave their place.

02:09Those who don't have an HMO branch or company should refuse their HMO application.

02:15DBM Secretary Amena Pangandaman thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for adding this to the medical allowance,

02:25which is not only a benefit, but also an assurance that a healthy worker will be able to perform his duties as a government employee.
