President Alassane Ouattara announces French forces in the West African nation will withdraw in January, during his end-of-year address. The Ivory Coast becomes the latest African country to weaken military ties with the former colonial power, France.

00:08The 43rd BIMA, the Marine Infantry Battalion of Port Bouée,
00:17will be retreated to the Côte d'Ivoire Armed Forces as of January 2025.
00:27To mark this new stage in the life of our army,
00:32I have decided to name this camp after General Ouattara Thomas d'Aquin,
00:39an exceptional military career and the first Chief of Staff of the Ivoirian Army.
