00:00New South Wales police were initially called to a home in Enzall Park around 1.30am after
00:07they say residents spotted a man dressed in black and carrying a firearm at the front
00:13of their house.
00:14Now police say it was lucky they spotted that man through their CCTV cameras and the residents
00:19weren't home at the time because they believe if they were this could have potentially been
00:24another gangland hit in Sydney.
00:27Now shortly after that incident at that home police say they spotted a vehicle they believe
00:32was involved in that initial incident in Hitchenbrook where a short pursuit ensued before that was
00:38called off quickly for safety reasons.
00:41They say they then spotted the vehicle again in the suburb of Veroaville where they say
00:47the passenger of that vehicle stuck his head out the window and fired at least two shots
00:53at a police canine vehicle.
00:56They say the police officer and the dog were not injured in that shooting.
01:01A short time later the car was eventually spiked by police and crashed into a ditch
01:07in Bushland where they arrested the 20-year-old male driver who remains at Campbelltown police
01:12station and is still yet to be charged.
01:15They say the passenger though who they believe fired the shots at police remains on the run
01:21and they say he could still be armed.
01:23Police did seize at least three firearms from that vehicle so they're not entirely
01:29sure whether that man is armed or not but they're saying everyone to treat this with
01:33precaution.
01:34As their investigation continues the perimeter that they set up at Veroaville around where
01:40that vehicle crashed is now closed.
01:42They say that passenger has likely left the area and moved into the residential suburbs.
01:47They say the two men involved so far that they've been able to identify that is the
01:52owner of the home where that break and enter started it all off is a known crime figure
01:58to police and the 20-year-old who was arrested is also well known to police.
