2025 budget to sustain growth

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, thanked Filipinos for scrutinizing and pointing out the contentious provisions of the 2025 national budget. He said that the national budget was designed to sustain economic growth and improve the lives of future generations and should be carefully curated and scrutinized.

00:00As we embrace the holiday season, with the joy of Christmas filling our hearts and the
00:06New Year inspiring hope and new possibilities, we are reminded that it is also a time for
00:12reflection and for resolve.
00:15Just as families use this time to plan for the year ahead, so too must government dedicate
00:23ourselves to fortifying the foundation that we have laid down for a better future for
00:29the country.
00:31On this day that we honor our national hero, we enact the 2025 General Appropriations Act.
00:40And through this measure, the dreams of our heroes are realized by a nation birthed by
00:45their sacrifices.
00:47This budget reflects our collective commitment to transforming economic gains into meaningful
00:52outcomes for every Filipino.
00:55It is designed not just to address our present need, but to sustain growth and to uplift
01:00the lives of generations that are yet to come.
01:04In the first two years of this administration, we focused on creating the foundation for
01:09an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient Philippines.
01:13From targeted reforms to strategic investments, we ensure that our progress is felt in the
01:18daily lives of every Filipino.
01:21Today, we build on that momentum, guided by the same precision, purpose, and unwavering
01:28determination.
01:30In my State of the Nation Address last July, I called for the full cooperation of Congress
01:34to approve the budget in their usual timely manner and to adhere to the administration's
01:39proposed budget as closely as possible.
01:43With the passing of the Fiscal Year 2025 General Appropriations Act, the responsibility of
01:49ensuring that every centavo is spent wisely, transparently, and purposefully begins.
01:56Cognizant that our resources are finite and our people's needs are plenty, we need to
02:03carefully curate the particulars of the budget, so much so that even grand ambitions and great
02:10plans must be tempered.
02:13We must exercise maximum prudence, otherwise we run the risk of increasing our deficit
02:19and debt and derailing our development agenda for our country.
02:44With the passing of the Fiscal Year 2025 General Appropriations Act, the results of our efforts
02:53in your favor are now included in the Fiscal Year 2025 General Appropriations Act.
02:57You are hopeful in this budget.
03:00We will continue to expand our services to you, in accordance with our Philippine Development
03:08Plan for 2023-2028.
03:12We will ensure that social services will remain a priority, along with education, in accordance
03:21with the mandate of our Constitution, as well as health.
03:26We will also strive to continue and implement our economic services, including infrastructure
03:35and agriculture, so that our economy will grow stronger and we can fight poverty by
03:42increasing the price of goods and goods.
03:46We will ensure that plans will be implemented to lower the price of food, especially rice.
03:58We will continue our efforts to address the lack of educational facilities and computers
04:12in schools.
04:13We will ensure that the benefits of all Filipinos will continue to grow under PhilHealth.
