00:00In Georgia, Mikhail Kavelashvili was sworn in on Sunday as president after being elected
00:05by a parliamentary majority on December 14, 2024.
00:09The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Georgian parliament attended by deputies,
00:14religious leaders, and the heads of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts.
00:18Mikhail Kavelashvili became the first president in the country to be elected not by popular
00:23vote but by electoral college, a voting in which opposition parties did not participate
00:28before they said the procedure was flawed.
00:31Prior to Kavelashvili's inauguration, former President Saddam Zalabishvili left the presidential
00:37residence despite having threatened to remain in power.
00:42And in North Korea, the authorities announced the implementation of a tougher strategy against
00:49the United States following its growing military cooperation with South Korea and Japan.
00:55South Korean leader Kim Jong-un has set a new task to cope with increasing military
01:00provocations by Washington and its vassal forces against the Democratic People's Republic
01:05of Korea.
01:07Officials said they have been banking on accelerated progress in defense science and technology
01:12to firmly defend the country's inviolable sovereign rights.
01:16In late November, Kim blamed the U.S. for being the ringleader of the disruptors of
01:20peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, so he set military build-up as one of his
01:26irreversible policies.
