00:1471 acute strokes from December 21 to December 27 this year were reported by the Department of Health or DOH.
00:21According to DOH Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson Albert Domingo,
00:25the data from the Centennial Hospitals was part of their monitoring of the number of cases during the Christmas break.
00:3441 had acute coronary syndrome and 46 had stroke.
00:39Domingo's advice was to avoid eating and drinking excessively, especially during the festive season
00:45because this can lead to an increase in the risk of stroke and heart attack.
00:49Domingo encouraged patients to be careful, especially during the new year,
00:54because of the presence of sparks and dust in the air.
00:58He also advised patients who are weak to check their inhalers to see if they are full or working.
