00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for Minecraft mods that make
00:13the sandbox game even more fun to play.
00:16From complicated rail networks to aircraft carriers and fighter jets, we're experiencing
00:22a golden age for Minecraft mods.
00:33Number 20, MCSX Minecraft PS1 Edition.
00:45Ever wondered what Minecraft would have looked like if it released way back in the 90s on
00:49the Playstation 1, MCSX answers that question, giving Minecraft a complete retro overhaul
00:56to give you that old school feeling.
00:58It does this by weakening features like the render distance, fog, and item models, all
01:03on top of alpha graphics and sound effects to provide that crispy CRT aesthetic the 90s
01:10were known for.
01:11Additionally, it gives the game a horror spin, adding a plethora of harrowing events that
01:15could kick off at any time.
01:17We won't spoil what they are, you'll have to hunt these terrors yourself.
01:29Number 19, Nature's Compass.
01:40Ever tried hunting a specific biome, whether that's a new location to settle, or you're
01:45on a woodland mansion hunt with treasure on your mind?
01:48In the vanilla game, you have nothing to guide you, and you must wander the world aimlessly.
01:53Well, Nature's Compass solves this by adding a compass that can tell you the nearest type
01:58of any biome.
01:59Want to go one step further and find structures too?
02:02You can pair this with Explorer's Compass by the same author, which now lets you hunt
02:07any structure in the game.
02:09These are a mighty combo, which makes the worlds we've been exploring for years ever
02:13so slightly more fun to uncover.
02:21Number 18, Better Combat.
02:29Vanilla combat has always been one of the game's weaker aspects.
02:32Sure, there was a combat update in 2016 which added much needed improvements like shields
02:38and dual wielding.
02:39It's still far from the best.
02:41But if you want to fix it, then this is the mod for you.
02:45Better Combat does exactly what it says on the tin.
02:48It adds a whole bunch of combat fixes like various attack animations, better collision
02:53detection, and combos for certain weapons.
02:56You can even wield two-handed weapons, making it feel like you're the protagonist of a
03:00Souls game.
03:02Except with more creepers.
03:10Number 17, Sound Physics Remastered.
03:19Exploring caves has always been the heart and soul of Minecraft, especially since the
03:24Cave and Cliffs update completely revitalized underground exploration.
03:28Well, now you can make it even more immersive with this incredible sound overhaul.
03:34It doesn't change the sounds themselves, but instead adds reverberation, attenuation,
03:39and absorption through blocks.
03:41So now you can hear amazing echoes as you explore the depths, bringing a whole new level
03:47of detail to the game, which we never knew was needed.
03:50It's also compatible with Simple Voice Chat, a proximity voice chat mod, so exploring caves
03:55with friends will have you on the edge of your seat.
04:05Number 16, Not Enough Animations.
04:14Third Person isn't great in Vanilla.
04:17With a lack of animations, your character barely comes to life.
04:20For instance, when rowing a boat, their arms don't move at all, making you think there's
04:24a secret engine hidden in the wooden rafts.
04:27Not Enough Animations corrects all these issues.
04:30What it adds feels small, but it improves the game so much.
04:35Animations it fixes are eating and drinking, holding a map, rowing a boat, riding a horse,
04:40holding a compass, climbing a ladder, and many others.
04:44Really, Mojang should add these to the base game.
04:47But until then, this is an essential download.
04:55Number 15, Zero's Minimap.
05:04The original map system leaves a lot to be desired, requiring you to explore everything
05:09to reveal each map.
05:11It also only maps a small area each time, so you're going to have to fill your inventory
05:16with them to get around.
05:17Thankfully, there are plenty of minimap mods available, but this one is easily the best.
05:23Other than adding a highly useful minimap, it also adds a map of your entire game world.
05:29More useful features include waypoints, displaying nearby items and mobs, and fast travel.
05:35If you and your friends have a huge world, this makes getting around it much more manageable.
05:46Number 14, Handcrafted.
05:54Interior decoration is an uphill battle in Vanilla.
05:58With a lack of decorative blocks available, you're forced to adapt, cobbling together
06:02stairs, signs, and trapdoors to make a dining table.
06:06Handcrafted gives you the opposite problem, giving you so many things to decorate your
06:11home you can spend hours improving a single room.
06:15It adds more than 250 furniture pieces, including tables, chairs, and benches, most feeling
06:22crucial for a home.
06:24Now you can spend hours micromanaging your base's interior, giving you a truly stylish
06:29abode to come home to.
06:36Number 13, Bewitchment.
06:39Magic mods are incredibly tough to pull off, with most eventually giving you way too much
06:44power and ruining the game's charm.
06:47Bewitchment manages to avoid this issue, focusing on the spooky side of magic.
06:52With this mod, you can turn yourself into a vampire or werewolf, giving you loads of
06:57exciting new powers.
06:58You can also curse your enemies, teaching them a lesson when you've been griefed.
07:02Ghosts also come with the mod, and a whole bunch of rituals to be performed.
07:07Potions have been improved too, and there are also flying brooms so you can live out
07:12your grandest witch fantasies.
07:15Number 12, Incendium.
07:23When it comes to the Vanilla game's nether experiences, you tend to run in, get what
07:27you need, and then zoom back out again.
07:30The Vanilla nether gives you little incentive to do otherwise.
07:33But Incendium completely overhauls the dimension, and does a much better job than Mojang did
07:39with their nether update.
07:41It adds 8 new biomes for way more variety, such as the Withered Forest and Quartz Flats.
07:48There are also more than 9 new structures to explore, like the Forbidden Castle and
07:53the Sanctum.
07:54It comes with more loot and items too, and even more mobs.
07:58Now, the nether is better than ever.
08:05Number 11, WorldEdit.
08:16Ever wanted to expand your base, but don't have the hours to spend landscaping, filling
08:20chests up with dirt from flattening huge tracts of land?
08:24We play Minecraft to have fun, and for many of us, this just isn't enjoyable.
08:29Thankfully, WorldEdit is here to save the day, making the most tedious aspects of building
08:34a breeze.
08:35This mod's uses are endless, making flattening a mountain only one command away.
08:40You can convert math equations into blocks, copy and paste structures, or even hollow
08:45out a new river or ocean.
08:47This is a mod you can spend years learning, and should be an early addition to every mod
08:52list.
08:57Number 10, Iris.
09:06Shaders used to be a dream in Minecraft's infancy, usually tanking performance with
09:11not much you could do to fix it.
09:13Well, thanks to Iris, the best shaders are only a few clicks away, and you don't need
09:18a high-end gaming PC to run them.
09:21It's an open-source mod that significantly improves shader performance.
09:26On its own, you won't see much difference, but after setting up a shader, the improvement
09:30is profound.
09:32A few shaders we can recommend are Complimentary Reimagined, Nostalgia, and Beyond Belief,
09:38but there are so many to choose from that you can spend hours trying them out.
09:42If it weren't for Iris, shaders wouldn't be experiencing such a golden age.
09:55Number 9, Pixelmon.
10:05Our next entry is for all the Pokemon fans out there who just gotta catch em all.
10:11Not only does Pixelmon add a whole bunch of Pokemon to your world, but it also adds
10:16battling, trading, and breeding.
10:18Currently, it has almost a thousand Pokemon across all nine generations.
10:23That's nearly every Pokemon ever designed.
10:27It will take you a long time to capture every single one, but this is a must-have for Pokemon
10:33fans.
10:34It doesn't use the random encounter feature, but instead makes them spawn all over the
10:38world, adding so much variety to nature and a whole new element of exploration.
10:54Number 8, Distant Horizons.
11:05This is a mod fans have been dreaming of since the early days.
11:08It does exactly what the name suggests.
11:11It renders reduced quality terrain past the maximum rendered distance.
11:16This allows for enormous view distances while keeping a high FPS.
11:21Without this, the farthest you can see is roughly 32 chunks away.
11:26Distant Horizons changes that, letting you see more than 512 chunks away.
11:31It makes for some stunning views, finally providing some we've always wanted to see
11:35while making epic towers and mountain builds even more beautiful.
11:40It's in alpha as of writing, but it's still phenomenal even in its infancy.
11:53Number 7, Just Enough Items J.E.I.
12:03After installing a hefty quantity of mods, you're going to be overwhelmed by all the
12:07new blocks, recipes, and items stuffed into your game.
12:12If you want to make learning these easier and sidestep the issue of having 50 wiki pages
12:17open simultaneously, Just Enough Items is for you.
12:21It's an item and recipe viewing mod, adding an interface that lets you browse every item
12:25in the game.
12:26You can then view how they're crafted or what recipes they're used in, giving you
12:30the freedom to forget the thousands of recipes your game boasts.
12:35It also pairs wonderfully with Jade, an information HUD mod, making it even easier to navigate
12:41heavily modded worlds.
12:48Number 6, Alex's Mobs There are a bunch of mob packs available,
12:58but none can match the impressive scale of Alex's Mobs.
13:03It adds 89 new mobs, most of these being real world creatures.
13:08Almost any animal you can think of will be in there, including bears, gorillas, elephants,
13:14sharks, tigers, and loads more.
13:17These aren't just for aesthetics, they all serve a purpose with each animal having
13:21unique drops or mechanics.
13:23If these aren't enough animals for you, then you'll be happy to hear the mod is
13:27compatible with Friends and Foes by Favoslav, which adds all the mobs Mojang intended to
13:33add, but never did.
13:41Number 5, Farmer's Delight Farming in the base game is a bit dull, with
13:51there being little to no variation in the items you grow, other than how much they heal
13:56you.
13:57Farmer's Delight does a remarkable job at correcting this issue, massively expanding
14:01your farming options.
14:03Including sandwiches, salads, sushi, and more, you can spend hours cooking.
14:09All of these have a variety of effects, including nourishment, which makes it so your hunger
14:14will stay at the max level for more than 2 seconds.
14:17It also pairs well with Nether's Delight, which is the same mod, but for the nether,
14:22letting you become the culinary master of hell.
14:34Number 4, Sodium It's no wonder games are rarely made in
14:44Java, which makes them perform terribly, and Mojang has done little to optimize it.
14:49Well, if they won't do it, then trust the modding community to fix it, which is exactly
14:54what Sodium does.
14:56It can give you over 3 times the amount of frames, letting you finally run the game smoothly.
15:02This has the excellent effect of allowing you to push the graphics further, whether
15:06that's with 4K realistic texture packs, stunning shaders, or humongous render distances.
15:13It's all possible with Sodium.
15:21Number 3, Valkyrian Skies Every Minecraft player has at one point dreamed
15:33of creating their own ship to embark on a voyage across the high seas.
15:37Or, maybe it's the skies that call you and you'd love to someday ride above the clouds,
15:43flying along peacefully with the world beneath your feet.
15:46This mod lets you do both of those things, and more.
15:50Valkyrian Skies is a library mod which adds physics for ships.
15:54On its own, it doesn't add any gameplay functionality, however paired with Eureka,
15:59you can make anything into a ship.
16:01Airships are also available, meaning you can finally build things like planes and blimps.
16:07You can even master both and build your own personal aircraft carrier.
16:17Number 2, Terralith There's no shortage of terrain mods available,
16:29with many these days adding excessively large terrain.
16:32These look nice, but overall aren't fun to play since they're a total nuisance to
16:37traverse.
16:38Instead, we suggest you download Terralith, which doesn't add any new blocks, but instead
16:44improves the vanilla ones, and implements new biomes using the vanilla blocks.
16:49These include floating islands, ocean trenches, underground biomes, and realistic biomes like
16:55Yellowstone and Highlands.
16:58Out of every biome mod, this is the one we recommend the most, since it improves vanilla
17:03generation without the complexities of a hundred new block types.

17:32Number 1, Create First place goes to a mod so impressive it
17:45created a genre of mods.
17:47It's the contraption mod, Create.
17:50Rather than older mods where the end goal was a magic block that took hundreds of diamonds
17:55to make, everything Create adds is relatively simple to make.
17:59It also makes use of vanilla resources which are completely useless in the base game, like
18:05kelp.
18:06The complexity comes from the creativity it allows for, letting you build complicated
18:10assembly lines, mech suits, chunk destroyers, and so much more.
18:16There are also tons of expansion mods.
18:19We recommend steams and rails, focusing on the trains, and even adding monorails.
18:25If you want to build a working tank, then try big cannons, adding exactly what the name
18:30suggests.
18:38What's the most impressive thing you've built in a modded Minecraft?
18:42We'd love to hear about it, so let us know in the comments section.
