00:00Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the most famous and memorable
00:12moments from the SpongeBob SquarePants series and movies.
00:23There comes a time in a crab's life when he starts to feel old.
00:34That's what happens to Mr Krabs in the mid-life crustacean episode.
00:37But when youngsters SpongeBob and Patrick enthusiastically discuss an imminent night
00:41on the town, Krabs wants in.
00:43They're not going clubbing or anything like that, though.
00:52After their first stop at a laundromat, yes, laundromat, SpongeBob ensures his boss it'll
00:57only get better on their night of debauchery.
01:00What ironically follows includes picking up trash, getting their teeth examined at the
01:03dentist, a reading session at the library, and more.
01:06Time and time again, SpongeBob hilariously asks, and you've gotta love him for checking
01:15if Krabs is enjoying these far from invigorating activities.
01:35Regardless of whether or not it was included as an excuse to show us some seriously creepy
01:39imagery of a dehydrated SpongeBob, we won't be forgetting this scene any time soon.
01:48While having tea with Sandy Cheeks, SpongeBob fails to grasp the fact that sea sponges don't
01:52do so well without water.
01:54He becomes increasingly withered, but stubbornly refuses to admit the simple and obvious fact
01:58that for him, access to H2O isn't optional, it's a necessity.
02:03Thankfully, he finally breaks, shouting out these immortal words.
02:26Poor Squidward.
02:27All he wants is a day off.
02:28While Mr Krabs is at the hospital, Squidward sees an opportunity and leaves SpongeBob in
02:33charge while he quote-unquote, runs errands.
02:35Unfortunately, he finds himself plagued by paranoid thoughts of what SpongeBob might
02:39do in his absence.
02:41Falling ever deeper into madness, he dreams up increasingly ludicrous scenarios, making
02:45it impossible for him to relax.
02:57Of course, every time he rushes back to check on things, he finds SpongeBob standing behind
03:01the counter with nothing at all amiss, ready to greet him with the question, it's a hilarious
03:07but insightful exploration of the dynamic between these diametrically opposed co-workers.
03:12Oh, Plankton, will any of your plans ever work out?
03:28In an effort to use SpongeBob as a pawn in his own nefarious schemes, Plankton tries
03:32to teach him to be more assertive, going so far as to set up a confrontation with the
03:36guy who took SpongeBob's ice cream.
03:38Of course, being the lovable goofball that he is, SpongeBob totally misses the point
03:42and turns what was supposed to be a violent warning into something wholesome and generous.
03:56Though SpongeBob eventually dabbles in aggression, it never suits him, and he's quick to make
04:00amends.
04:01It just goes to show that you can't force people to act against their nature.
04:19Normally the best of friends, SpongeBob and Patrick meet as foes in this episode, representing
04:23the Krusty Krab and the Chum Bucket respectively, the two go head-to-head in the final round
04:28of the Fry Cup Games.
04:31It's a showdown of epic proportions, with some rather bizarre wrestling moves.
04:38Trading increasingly odd blows, it looks like an even match-up, until it's revealed that
04:43they're wearing pink and yellow underwear, which instantly resolves the conflict.
04:54Well, you don't see that on WWE.
04:59Deeply funny, weird in that special SpongeBob way, and undeniably heartwarming, this bout
05:03is a true SquarePants classic.
05:10After Sandy Cheeks expresses how much she misses her Texas home through an iconic ballad,
05:24SpongeBob, Patrick and others are brought to tears.
05:30Sandy's homesickness is so real that she almost leaves Bikini Bottom, but our Sponge
05:37and Starfish aren't having any of it.
05:40Patrick infuriates her when he starts talking trash about Texas, and SpongeBob joins in.
05:54So an enraged Sandy chases after them for bad-mouthing her home state, but when they
05:58reach the Krusty Krab, she realises the guys threw what was supposed to be a Texas-themed
06:02party to convince her to stay.
06:04This tear-jerk of an episode culminates in Sandy ultimately remaining in her new home,
06:09and stressing the importance of being surrounded by those who care about you.
06:28Who knows what the future may hold?
06:29Well, Squidward gets a glimpse.
06:32After he gets stuck in a freezer for two millennia, a descendant of SpongeBob finds and defrosts
06:36him.
06:40Evidently shook, Squidward notices that essentially everything in this future time period is made
06:45of chrome.
06:46Things get even weirder when clones of SpongeBob descendants appear.
06:49Squidward then lies on the ground in bewilderment and creepily says,
06:53It's incredibly relatable stuff, and we can't help but feel for him.
07:02Well, just not enough to stop laughing.
07:04And that's not all.
07:05With a time machine at his disposal, he then goes back in time.
07:08It's all so wonderfully bizarre that Squidward eventually longs to return home, and is even
07:13briefly, happy to see his neighbours.
07:26Patrick Star isn't going to win any prizes for his storytelling abilities.
07:39That's never more apparent than in Something Smells.
07:42After SpongeBob's foul breath repels his fellow Bikini Bottom citizens, and his best
07:46friends suggest he might be ugly, his self-esteem takes a major hit.
08:01While down in the dearth in his home library, Patrick comes over and attempts to cheer the
08:04sponge up.
08:05He tells an extremely succinct and dark story about an ugly barnacle.
08:09What helps make this moment comical is the expression on the starfish's face, his tone
08:12of voice and the way he says, the end, after so few words.
08:24Clearly the story doesn't cheer up his buddy, as SpongeBob starts crying immediately afterwards.
08:38Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy 3.
08:46In fairness to Man Ray, Patrick Star could drive anyone to the brink.
08:50In a bid to convince the duo that he'd turn over a new leaf, the supervillain engages
08:54Patrick and SpongeBob to teach him to be good, but the impenetrable brick wall that
09:08is Patrick's obliviousness proves too much for him in the very first lesson, returning
09:13a wallet.
09:14Patrick genuinely forgets that the wallet is his, and refuses to take it back.
09:31It's an absurdly funny exchange, but an understandably infuriating one for Man Ray,
09:36who's pushed to the edge.
09:38Patrick Star may be impossibly dim-witted, but we wouldn't have him any other way.
09:49The essay, Procrastination.
09:56Though he may live in a pineapple under the sea, SpongeBob faces many of the same challenges
10:00we do, like homework we just don't want to deal with.
10:06Procrastination sets in, and we do our best to put it off as long as possible.
10:10Well, SpongeBob takes it to a whole other level in this wacky episode, when his inability
10:15to write a short piece of, what not to do at a stoplight, leads him on a whole series
10:19of misadventures.
10:27Of course, arguably the best moment comes when he finally puts pen to paper, only to
10:31produce a beautifully written, The.
10:48Make way for one of the most memorable songs in the history of SpongeBob SquarePants.
10:52Squidward reluctantly joins his neighbour on their camping trip, which happens to be
10:55right outside their homes.
10:57After enjoying some marshmallows, SpongeBob takes out the ukulele and starts performing.
11:02Squidward's mundane expression, juxtaposed with Patrick's joyful swaying, is just too
11:06good.
11:07The campfire song's song itself starts off relatively slow, but soon picks up pace in
11:11hysterical fashion.
11:16Hilariously, Patrick tries to join in, but noticeably struggles to keep up.
11:26The ending is humorous as well, as SpongeBob aggressively slams his ukulele, Patrick slams
11:30the drums and SpongeBob screams.
11:34He even claims that the tune was relaxing afterwards.
11:37We're not sure about that, but it's catchy.
11:56While Sandy is in hibernation, SpongeBob and Patrick ignore her directions to not enter
12:00her home.
12:01They pleasantly discover that her dome is filled with snow.
12:04Given the pair's playful nature and the fact that this is seemingly their first time
12:07seeing snow, they of course have some fun with it.
12:13They soon engage in a role-play game involving characters named Dirty Dan and Pinhead Larry.
12:20Perhaps the most unforgettable moment is when SpongeBob calls Patrick Pinhead, and the camera
12:24shifts to the starfish in the perfect shape.
12:29The two fighting over who gets to be Dirty Dan is pretty memorable too, as is them waking
12:33up a much angrier than usual Sandy.
12:45With the speakers blasting and colourful lights flashing, SpongeBob and his new pet jellyfish
12:49get down with a legendary dance inside the former's home.
13:00This scene is so lit that the whole pineapple vibrates along, and even Squidward's house
13:04starts to shake.
13:05As the techno rave music blares out of the speakers, SpongeBob breaks out his whole bag
13:09of dance moves in sync with the jellyfish, including the raise the roof and the wave.
13:18What makes this scene even more iconic is the fact that earlier, Squidward calls the
13:21jellyfish a wild animal, questioning how SpongeBob could have fun with it.
13:25Sure, things end up going awry, but nobody can say this is boring.
13:42When Sandy illuminates SpongeBob about Christmas, the latter becomes eager for Santa Claus to
13:46come to town.
13:47It's no surprise that Squidward is originally indifferent to the festivities, but to the
13:51audience's surprise, that ultimately changes.
13:53When Saint Nick is nowhere to be found, things turn sour.
13:57The citizens of Bikini Bottom thus question his existence, and Squidward makes a mockery
14:01of the sponge.
14:04But then, said sponge gives him an extremely thoughtful, handcrafted present, and the guilty
14:12octopus unwraps an opportunity to make up for his bad attitude.
14:21He does so by dressing up as Santa and giving away virtually everything in his house.
14:26We wouldn't have thought Squidward would be the one to save Christmas, but we sure
14:29are glad he was.
14:38Arguably the most catchy tune in the history of SpongeBob SquarePants comes when Plankton
14:42asks the titular character what fun means.
14:45SpongeBob cleverly answers in a way that is destined to stick in the viewer's head.
14:49Evidently, it takes Plankton a while to realise what fun truly is, at first singing a maniacally
14:53hostile verse.
15:01SpongeBob does his best to re-angle the little guy's approach to the concept.
15:04The antagonist is at first unimpressed, but when our fry cook forcefully helps him dance,
15:09he gets on board with the positive vibes and sings along.
15:16Sure, Plankton doesn't truly change in the end, but the fun song is epic, positively
15:28enlightening and enlivening us, no matter how cranky we feel.
15:35During a graveyard shift at the Krusty Krab, Squidward's attempt to scare SpongeBob
15:48with the story of the hash-slinging slasher backfires when both he and SpongeBob begin
15:53fearing for their lives.
16:02The lights flicker, the phone rings, and eventually, someone resembling the murderer
16:06shows up, spatula in hand, to finish the job.
16:09Of course, this all turns out to be a series of misunderstandings, except for the flickering
16:13lights.
16:14That was actually the vampire Count Orlok, from the 1922 horror movie, Nosferatu.
16:21And we're not sure what's wilder, the fact he's featured in a SpongeBob episode,
16:27or that a lot of people seemingly didn't know about this iconic character before this
16:31episode.
16:44The Krusty Krab is mainly known for their delicious Krabby Patties, but when a customer
16:48calls and orders a pizza, the crew makes it happen.
16:51We follow SpongeBob and Squidward on their delivery adventure, and right off the bat,
16:55something less than ideal happens, as they run out of gas.
16:58So, they complete their journey on foot.
17:00As they march on, SpongeBob chants an incredibly infectious tune that unsurprisingly irritates
17:05Squidward.
17:11Along the way, SpongeBob demonstrates his dedication to delivering the Krusty Krab pizza
17:15no matter what.
17:16The cherry on top, though, is when Squidward lets the irate customer have it after SpongeBob
17:21gets chewed out.
17:28It's unforgettable stuff.
17:31Now, let's sing it, all together now.
17:48SpongeBob and Patrick try their hands at being entrepreneurs for a day, and attempt
17:52to earn money by selling chocolate bars door-to-door.
17:59But starting your own business can be tricky, and their lack of sales experience yields
18:04less than stellar results with their prospective clients.
18:07There is, however, a clear standout character, and that would be the customer who goes absolutely
18:11ballistic at the mention of chocolate.
18:14So much so, they start screeching their head off and chasing SpongeBob and Patrick everywhere
18:18they go.
18:19As it happens, he just wanted to buy some, go figure.
18:41In this scene, which is arguably Patrick Starr's defining moment from the entire series, we're
18:45given a simple, yet oh-so-ingenious piece of comedy.
18:48The lovable starfish utterly fails to comprehend how taking orders over the phone works.
18:53As customers call up asking about the Krusty Krab, Patrick rebukes them each and every
18:57time.
19:02Becoming more and more agitated as the calls keep coming in, his patience finally runs
19:06out and he screams a now-legendary quote in question.
19:14This is Sparta, eat your heart out.
19:22Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honourable mentions.
19:25We're all Squidward, opposite day.
19:28SpongeBob's flawless impression is truly something.
19:35Patrick and SpongeBob cursing, sailor mouth.
19:37They hysterically use profanity at the Krusty Krab.
19:46The snowball fight, snowball effect.
19:48Patrick takes in a bunch of snowballs like only he can.
19:54Wumbo, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy 4, Patrick's hilariously non-descriptive definition never
20:01gets old.
20:10Firmly Grasp It, jellyfishing, Patrick's excessive aggression and lack of awareness
20:14of Squidward's injury.
20:43After being challenged by an old peer, Squidward struggles to turn the residents of Bikini
20:46Bottom into a marching band.
20:48Too bad most of them can't play.
20:50Case in point, Patrick thinks that mayonnaise is an instrument.
20:55However, not only do they manage to pull together for the final performance, they turn the whole
21:00thing into a rock concert.
21:10With Patrick on drums, Sandy on guitar and SpongeBob leading with some impressive vocals,
21:14this ending will have you either sitting there, stunned or nodding your head to the melody.
21:18Either way, it's unforgettable.
21:27So which SpongeBob moment left a lasting impression on you?
