00:00A group decided to design a new polymer banknote issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines.

00:06The faces of the heroes and former leaders of the country are no longer there.

00:10The BSP explained it.

00:18Not heroes and leaders anymore, but animals.

00:22The image you will see in the new money issued by the Central Bank of the Philippines.

00:27In the new 500 pesos, former President Cory and former Senator Ninoy Aquino are no longer married.

00:32Visayan Spotted Deer has been replaced.

00:35In the 100 pesos, former President Manuel Rojas is no longer the tampok, but the Palawan Peacock Pheasant.

00:41In the new 50 pesos, former President Sergio Osmeña has been replaced by Visayan Leopard Cat.

00:47The 1,000-peso polymer banknote was first issued in 2022,

00:51in which the World War II heroes Josefa Llanes Escoda, Jose Abad Santos, and Vicente Lim are no longer there.

00:58It was replaced by the Philippine Eagle.

01:00But the Atom Group, or August 21 Movement,

01:04which was established after the assassination of Ninoy Aquino on August 21, 1983,

01:08is even more loyal to the new society bills issued by the Martial Law,

01:13but our heroes and leaders still have faces.

01:16For more than two decades, the family of the dictator has been trying to change history

01:22and erase from our memories the heroes who fought bravely for our freedom.

01:27The question of the group is,

01:28do we want a country without heroes?

01:31And is it better to forget them?

01:34The GMA Integrated News is trying to get the attention of Malacanang and the Marcos family about this.

01:39But the Central Bank said,

01:41for now, it will not leave and will not stop the making of bills that have the faces of heroes and leaders.

01:48It will co-circulate so our paper banknotes featuring our Philippine heroes will still be there.

01:53What we will celebrate is equally important in our culture and in our history.

01:59And so, both are being honored and celebrated for our banknotes.

02:04The Central Bank of the Philippines said,

02:05these new money made from polymer can be stolen,

02:08can be sad,

02:09can be wet.

02:10But don't take it for granted.

02:12The BSP admitted,

02:13compared to paper money,

02:15the cost of polymer banknotes that we printed in Australia is more expensive.

02:19But this is more economical because it can be used for a longer period of time.
