00:00So at Birmingham Dogs Home, we've got the urgent winter appeal, so we desperately need
00:04the help from local communities to be able to continue to keep our doors open for the
00:08thousands of dogs that we rescue every single year.
00:12Birmingham Dogs Home faces immense challenges, relying entirely on donations to cover the
00:17rising costs of care. Every aspect of their work is supported by the generosity of the
00:22community. Without this vital help, the charity couldn't continue rescuing thousands of
00:29dogs who desperately need their care.
00:32So the challenges that we're facing at Birmingham Dogs Home is from medical bills. So our vet
00:37bills last year were over £540,000. It cost us £6,000 just to continue to keep our doors
00:45open every single day. So not only is there medical bills, we've also got high utility
00:50costs as well that everyone else is facing. But the dogs itself, they need lots of extra
00:55support from our canine carers team. So dogs are just with us a little bit longer. They're
00:59taking up that space in the kennels until we can find them that loving homes.
01:04Every contribution to the home makes a tangible difference in ensuring these dogs receive
01:09the care they need until they find a loving home. The team's dedication is remarkable,
01:14but they can't do it alone. They need the community's ongoing support.
01:20So the support we are really desperate for from the local community is obviously monetary
01:25donations, vet bills, to continue to open our doors, utility bills and obviously food.
01:31But they can also donate items. So it could be food, toys, anything dog related. And we're
01:36just thankful for all the support we've already received this year. People are very, very
01:41giving in the winter months. And we're just thankful of all the donations we've received.
01:45It really does make a huge difference. And we just want to take this time to say thank
01:49you to those people. We know that everyone out there is struggling as well. And so for
01:53them to put their hands in their pockets to help our homeless dogs, we really do appreciate it.
